It is what it is with "links" style courses. I can appreciate the fact that golf in the wind is challenging, but the courses themselves are very plain looking.

Not me and apparently most of the pros loved it too!! Beautiful course with so many options, not only off the tee, but with pin placements as well. Awesome shape and layed out well. Hope it gets a Major in the future!

I think Kuch might be skipping it unless he's just so competitive that he wants to beat the course. That Par 5, 14th was frustrating him and got about the most emotion you will get out of him when he hit his 2nd into the lip of the bunker. I did like to see he's human and is capable of that. Usually he's just flipping a ball into the air with a happy go lucky smile on his face.

I actually enjoyed the course, fan experience not so much. Way too hot (need fake trees or some sort of shade for viewing around/near greens and fairways). Thus, main reason why the "galleries" looked so small. When you get bumped to the Golf Channel because of time, and have to share the channel with LPGA playoff, says everything you need to know about the prestige of the Byron.
Need to get rid of the dirt cart paths (concrete or crushed gravel), with the rain too much mud. When dry, too much dust.
From an aerial point of view, which CBS constantly showed, the course did not have a deep, rich green look. Too many brown out areas. Not sure if young course or if by design.
Scoring was way too low, need better or tougher pin placement when the wind is low. More sand dunes, especially around 18. Seems players strategy was to aim for the pin...at worse, you roll past the green into the stands. Free drop and move on.
Lack of party atmosphere (like along the houses at TPC LC) deems enthusiasm for younger fans. Poor parking / uber pickup/drop points. Without a ticket to the hospitality tents, it would be a boring event if you are not a golf fan.
Considering all the things they need to fix, the cost associated with it, and the fact the tournament's contract is only for another 3 years (through 2021). This will turn into the worse investment ($60m plus) for the City and for South Dallas.
City of Dallas needs to reach an agreement to extend the contract by at least 7 years. Invest in more permanent structures, paved walk ways for the fans, more shade, and better parking/pick up points. Without such a commitment, this will be a public golf course in a few years.
And I look forward to playing it...
