the obvious favorite @ 7/2 is Jon Rahm off his 4th in the Masters and rated #4 OWGR BUT was a CUT last fall in the Andalucia Valderrama Masters in the south of Spain last fall as the co-favorite with winner Sergio Garcia. "Rahmbo" will probably get pestered to death by the Spanish media this week
fellow Spaniard Rafael Cabrera-Bello the 2nd favorite @ 14-1 while 3rd favs @ 20-1 are Pablo Larrazabal, who has been in the top four 3 of his last 4 tourneys, George Coetzee off his WIN at theT shwane Open and Paul Dunne who was top 8 his last two PGA events. Indian Open runner up in a playoff with Matt Wallace is Andy "Beef" Johnston @ 25-1. he had his "maiden" Euro Tour WIN this tourney two years ago but NOT on this course
"of interest" "to win" plays for me are Spaniard Jorge Campillo who has been "wicked close" lately with T-4th Oman [-11] and 2nd Maybank [-19]. only reason he did not WIN Maybank was Shubhankar Shama's unreal final round. also Matt Wallace off his WIN at the Indian Open. BOTH are 40-1
a wide open "inland links" style course should favor long hitters like Nicky Colsaerts and Ryan Fox (3rd Maybank [-18]) both @ 80-1 along with South African "up and comer" Erik Van Rooyen (10th Tshwane [-10] & 2nd Joberg [-20])
Oliver Fisher off 2nd in Qatar [-17] and Mikko Korhonen off 3rd Tshwane [-15} along with Renato Paratore tied 4th Qatar [-15] all worth a $5 "sprinkle"
