Furyk did exactly the same thing, on the same hole. Why are we only hearing about Tiger's drop, & not Jim's?

you are right it is BS....it should be DQ or nothing!!....tigerclearly  broke the rule and should be dqed!!,,,,no ifs ands or buts about it!!...if he does not dq himself...i have lost what little respect i have for this guy!!!...he broke the rule...not on purpose , but that does not matter!!!...he broke the rule...and it is a disqualification rule...not a 2 stroke penalty rule!!...tiger should be out of this tournament!!...if he continues to play it will mar his career forever!!!!!!

that's not my point. what tiger did is black and white...we don't need to regurgitate what's being said on Golf network but Furyk did the exact same thing

it's a stupid situation though...everyone thinks he should DQ himself. Committee makes it become a moral issue for him by giving him the stroke vs the DQ

No, he didn't. Furyk was on the same line that his ball entered the hazard on.

Those that understand golf, understand the rule.  It has to do with the LINE Tiger re-dropped on...

How's the game lookin Mugg?  Been playing much this year...I've only gotten out to Willows Run a few times due to the weather...

Throwin some chump change on Day to win at nearly 7/1 guy made a serious run 2yrs ago...

Officials should not be able to review violations after the fact. If they are not going to be on top of it when it happens, they shouldn't be able to penalize or DQ someone because of what they say in an interview. That's the BS here. Either call it when it occurs, or don't call it at all.

I'm caught with mixed emotions watching the coverage this morning...breaking Rule 26 is obvious on Tigers part.  The committee being dumb enough to not catch it in which they had over 1hr to do...is strictly on the shoulders of the committee  So I understand why they're using Rule 33.

Morally should Tiger withdraw?  Probably...but the ruling body...in this case the Masters Committee stated it was part Tigers fault and part their fault.  If they say Tiger you're good to play...Tiger should play.

very good points......you are absolutely correct...but only tiger knows whether he should play or not based on how he interpreted the rule!

I think it's a dumb rule to begin with, reminds me of Dustin Johnson getting fucked a few years ago on some stupid bullshit. 

If I was Tiger, I'd probably play...as the fans are there to see me.  But, maybe work something in with the PGA to withdraw after 9 on Sunday or something...

On a side note, none of the current players should be bitching about this ruling...as their enormous paychecks are strictly due to Tiger.

The whole getting DQ based on some random person watching tv and calling in is BS. So Tiger spends his own time talking with the media and then gets penalized for it? What is this going to say for golfers? They shouldn't talk with the media because they can cost their game? It's not like he moved his ball 10 feet closer to the pin. And for a tv crew to catch his mistake is a joke. If they are going to use the tv and not the hole supervisor to make that call is horseshat. Honestly this coverage is actually ruining the viewing experience of the Masters.  If they are going to use a TV crew to catch Tiger, they need to have a tv crew on every player, for every shot and let people view to catch mistakes. That is just unfair on so many counts for Tiger to receive that penalty.

Reminds me of a baseball scenario...

If I'm batting and the pitcher throws a ball inside...ump says the ball hit me or grazed me and tells me to take my base.  I know the ball didn't hit me.  Do I turn around and tell them ump it didn't hit me...or do I take my base?

I know not exactly similar, but in this case the Rules Committee is telling Tiger to take his base and continue playing...correct?

If a wide receiver says in an interview that he trapped the ball, but during the game it was ruled a catch, do they go back issue a penalty. Game is over.
As for Tiger doing the morally correct thing, this is not a bantant cased of cheating. He's done plenty wrong in his personal life, but apparently he thought he was playing by the rules. Why on earth would he withdraw?

Rule 33 is why he is not disqualified.  This rule protects the players from fucktard TV viewers with no life who call in every time a blade of grass is disturbed.

In essence, people who are on TV more during the round are at more of a disadvantage then others.  If this shot was not shown on TV. no penalty would have ever been granted.    That is part of what Rule 33 tries fix.

100% correct, and with how many cameras are on Tiger in a given round of golf.  This should have been caught within 10mins, and he should've been notified by the time he hit the 17th tee.  Committee has nobody to blame but themselves.

what gets me is the reason this happened is because TWO PEOPLE phoned augusta complaining.....like who the fukk has that time to call in and whistleblow when the officials can't catch it themselves....what a joke lol
