What looked like a dead cinch, Tiger will NOT beat Jack's record of 18 professional majors.

This makes me very happy since I grew up playing golf from the age of five, and the Golden Bear was my golf hero. Yea, I know he has a "squeaky voice", but crap.....what a player! Throw in great family man and business man, and I can't decide if I would like to live his life or Bruce Springsteens.

Woods is trying to win 4 or 5 more Majors at the age of 35. He is just a good player....not outstanding when I saw him "lap" the field at Pebble Beach in 2000, and go on to collect ALL FOUR MAJOR trophys. Wow. But, he aint that guy anymore.

Moreover, the young talent coming up is fantastic.....crap again....there are already here!  AND, they do not fear him like they use to out there.

Honestly, I love to watch Woods hit great shots, be in contention, and stalk the course.......he is still the most exciting player!

But, he is a guy that will finish in the top ten.....and to win FIVE more big ones is not in the cards....that is really hard to believe.

Of course it can happen.....my sweet mother-in-law "wood" vehemently disagree with me.

Jack stood the test of time.....6 Masters   5 PGA's   4 US Open's   3 British Open's  (2 US Amatuers)

Oh, and eight Senior majors on a very limited schedule.

The haunting question is how much of Tiger's brilliance in his golf career was directly attributable to his juicing from that Canadian doctor? Aren't his victories and career accomplishments tarnished now?

Sort of like McGuire, Sosa, and Bonds et al. hitting mammoth homeruns those years whilst playing with steroids racing through their veins. It seems all pervasive now in all sports. So much money at stake and so many desperate athletes.

Tiger will break the record.

can't wait till Tiger wins the British Open. We will see what all of his haters have to say then.

(1) Jack Nicklaus won 3 Majors between ages 36 & 40 & a 1/2. Since there's no chance Tiger wins a major after he turns 46 given the current level of competition (which will only be even greater by a factor of X in a decade's time), you're asking him to outdo Jack at a comparable age over the coming 4 year stretch by nearly twice as much (win 5 Majors) to beat his record. Even if he was healthy physically and without the (still present) inner-turmoil, that would be extremely tough given current competitive standards that Jack never had to face when he was belting out his 3 titles over the same age frame.



(2) But the even more destructive comparison between these 2 exists:

In his career Jack suffered 3 dry spells after he'd won his 1st title (I'll note here that Jack's biggest dry-spell within any of his winning sequences was 6 Majors, once)....

won 7 Majors
12 Majors played with no win
won 7 Majors
10 Majors played with no win
won 3 Majors
20 Majors played with no win
won 1 Major

...so after he had a dry spell top 9-played-without-a-win for the 3rd time, Jack was beyond good enough to 'fluke' more than 1 Major win.

Now for Tiger Woods' career arc since winning his 1st title (I'll note Tiger's biggest dry-spell within any of his winning sequences was 3 Majors, twice)....

won 1 Major
10 Majors played with no win
won 7 Majors
10 Majors played with no win
won 6 Majors
9 Majors played since his last win

So Tiger's already onto his 3rd 9-Major dry spell... While some will observe Jack's 3rd dry spell took place at an age 4 years older than Tiger is currently, surely (as already mentioned) the balancing act to that fact is the level of competition Tiger faces.


(3) Another factor to think about re: Tiger & Jack...

Jack never won more than 3 Majors over any 6 consecutive Majors he played in, and only ever won consecutive Majors once.

Tiger has once won 5 of 6 consecutive Majors he's played in, and has 5 instances of winning consecutive Majors he's played in.

In short, Tiger has as many titles as he does now simply because when he's been hot, he's piled it on. Nothing in golfing history points to any player going 'berserk' over a condensed group of Majors when they're at or beyond Tiger's current age (which goes back to the (1)st stat I posted). And since Tiger hasn't shown any ability to win consistently outside of winning in chunks, it's just another reason why Jack's record is safe.

Along with Nicklaus' 18 majors wins is the fact that he finished second in majors tournaments 19 times. This is astounding and I guess they would be included in his 'dry' spells.

Also Nicklaus competed against Palmer, Player, Watson, Trevino, Miller. All of those guys were fierce competitors.

Who has Woods competed against? Oh yeah, Mickelson, Els, Singh, Couples, Furyk, Garcia et. al. I will let everyone draw their own conclusions.

I saw both sets of competitors and the Nicklaus set would never lay down and spread them for anyone including Nicklaus. Mickelson is probably Woods' fiercest competitor and lets face it, he leaves a lot to be desired.

I feel so sad for all of those Tiger Woods' queers who loved sucking his Johnson all of those years. Where will they go now?

I miss Tiger Woods juiced up to the fucking sky. Enhancement drugs racing through his veins leading to so many fist pumps that we all could not see straight. Racing from tee to tee ignoring all of his fans and acting as if he was lord of the heavens.

Who cares if the records that he sets are all tainted? At least he created events, phony as fuck, but we loved the ride.

So now, what other phony fuck strides towards Bethlehem to be born???????????????????????????

Age has nothing to do with it, Golf is not like other sports, you can win golf  at ages when guys would have long retired in other sports.. That is why Golf is not a taxing sport, more of a hobby.

All of the greats that dominated in golf, dominated when they were young. I have seen age creep up on all of the great golfers in the past 50 years. There was a tremendous dropoff of talent after the mid 30s range.

Oh sure, Watson almost won the British open at nearly 60 and Nicklaus won a major in his mid forties but those performances are flukes and they were surely not dominating the field like they once did in their youth.

The dropoff in their game was for all of them the short putts. They could do everything else but the knee knockers got the better of them in the end.
