Stu---I completely agree. A wonderful city. Music, food and friendly people. Used to go to the House of Blues. Saw Buckwheat Zydeco, who I admit I had never heard of . Great show. Preservation Hall and street musicians right and left. Went to K-Pauls Louisianna Kitchen, when Paul Prudhomme was starting the Cajun cooking revolution. Emeril's, Commander's Palace joined by exciting new restaurants on a regular basis. Stay at the Dauphine Orleans in the French Quarter. A really fun hotel at a fair price. People have different tastes but I love this city. |

I don't like doing this, because it has the feel of kicking a drunk, homeless person in the teeth. However, your post has such an enthusiastic, self-righteousness to it that I cannot help but set the record straight. First, I agree with your first two sentences. Unfortunately, you embody every accusation you hurl at anonymous others in those sentences. You repeat a false rumor, started around 2016, that Fox News is listed as "an entertainment company." That is a lie. No such category exists in the American regulatory structure or anywhere else, except perhaps in the minds of haters who spread false "information." I'm really shocked that some previously credible posters on this site would congratulate you for a "Good Post." Perhaps they do that because they too are Fox News, MAGA haters. Nevertheless, you are wrong. And,you are a hater. Further, you are not the self-proclaimed "centrist" you claim to be. Every hater I know says things like "Sorry, I'm right in the middle." It gives them a self-anointed claim of fairness, entirely untrue, entirely self-serving and, most certainly, entirely undeserved. |

I don't think so. It was a targeting review. |

After the non-targeting call, why punt when you could run 25 more seconds off the clock or force a timeout ? They punted with the clock running and 24 seconds left on the play clock. |

I can honestly say I have never been "on the record" telling any of my Covers friends what to do. Having said that, I would like to go on the record as observing what would have happened this week if the great one, Vanzack, had listened to this advice giver. Keeping in mind that many of us have had highly lucrative weeks and NFL seasons by listening to Van the Man for close to a quarter century, if Van had listened to the genius who joined Covers less than a year ago, we would have missed today's Van selections : Eagles : victory Panthers : victory Chargers : victory I hereby go on the record as saying "thank you " Van. |

Score to go up 4. You don't kick to go up 5. You go for 2 to go up 6. Five means absolutely nothing. Six and you don't lose with a missed extra point or two field goals. |

For once I'd like someone to set a goal of being the worst possible version of themself and report back as to how that goes. Just for kicks. |

Your record is unsurpassed by anything I've seen. And I have no doubt you will finish the season in the black. But, I've been doing this for nearly 50 years and I don't care who you are, no one is immune from a bad run. I once lost 17 NFL bets in a row. Obviously thought about quitting. Then I ran a Phil Simms like 22-3. You know better than I do--if you play long enough you're going to take hits. A bit of gambling levity. When I went 0-17, my local told me a story about a hapless guy who lost 20 straight football games. Feeling bad for him, he suggested that maybe the guy try something different, maybe hockey. The guy replied " but I don't know anything about hockey." Hang in there. You're exceptionally good at this. |

I respect and understand ( I think ) Hugh's decision to leave. I haven't contributed much, particularly in recent years. But I do have observations and fond and grateful memories about those who did put in the time, energy and benefits of their expertise. And, I emphasize, these are just my own thoughts. ClubDirt used to write a thoughtful, well-analyzed newsletter. His "CD Newsletter" thread was more thorough and information-filled than most of the junk subscriptions people pay money for. We were fortunate to look forward to it, starting up like clockwork in late summer and always left wanting more after the season ended. It was the NFL. Almost nothing else. And it was terrific. Thread "friendships" were forged. Plus, we got insights from people who seemed to know more about their local or favorite teams than some of the GM's of those teams. And the banter was always crisp, friendly and witty. Then Club disappeared. If people know what happened to him, I don't. And almost by magic, long-time contributors like Hugh, Getty, Sac and TW picked up the torch and kept it burning (apologies to those omitted). And for several seasons it continued, well written and always thoughtful and informative, seemingly out of respect, if not reverence for our missing newsletter leader. Then, at some point, it all changed. I don't know why and I certainly have no right or interest in pointing fingers. But change it did. And dramatically. One need only look at this latest edition to see why I believe Club would be horrified to see his name associated with it. This thread bears no resemblance to a CD Newsletter. I don't know if he's alive or dead, but I would like to see the CD Newsletter end, or called something else. Purely out of respect for him. Just one guy's opinion. |

We were close. Best buddies. Why aren't you taking my calls ? Anyway, you got my text from last week wrong. Since we are both students of history, I know it can be difficult keeping presidents names straight as a way of remembering who I want you to buy. You bought Adams; I wanted Jefferson, as in Justin Jefferson. Please make the call to the Vikings and get this done. Look at our schedule. You could win out with Zeke at QB ( Kidding, Wood Man ). This is our year ! P.S. Even though it was a mistake, please keep Adams after you buy Jefferson for me. It's not like he stinks or anything. He caught 3 of my passes last night. Thirty yards ! That's almost one-third of the football field. We can use him too. See you at the Super Bowl, Woody !!!! Your friend, Aaron |

@Cyrax No Sunday night NFL for me. Thanks Goodell, for that matchup, which enabled an early bedtime. No inadvertent touching of the clicker allowing Collinsworth's voice into my home. Tried the Mets game, but not much interesting there. A few old episodes of "The Fugitive" and bed. |

@ABooksNightmare I get RedZone free with YouTube TV. Why pay for Sunday Ticket ? This group eliminates the extraneous and keeps you involved in all that's important. I have a feeling this bargain won't last forever. |
