created a topic First Round Thoughts in College Basketball Hello all! Tournament time is back and I couldn't be more excited. Lets take a look at some of the first round match-ups. Just going to ramble out my thoughts, please forgive some grammar errors, etc. One bet I love is UC Irvine +9 (down to 8.5 now). I think Louisville is massively overrated and it is a crime that they got a 4 seed over a team like Utah. Uc Irvine is playing well as they won 3 straight to take the Big West tourney. They have a deep rotation, playing 9-10 people a significant amount of minutes and they are big up front. Mamadou Ndiaye, a 7'6 sophomore, is raw but can change games with his shotblocking and sheer size. Their top player is also a 6'8 senior in Will Davis II, who is playing well right now (3 Straight Double-Doubles). The Anteaters have also had a decent non-conference schedule. They went to Arizona, St Mary's and Oregon. They took Oregon to OT and lost to St Mary's by 3. They were also up at the half against Zona. Louisville is only 11-18-2 ATS this year. Every time I watch them they just don't pass the eye test for me. Rozier, Blackshear, and Harrell are nice players but their bench is not good. If they get into any sort of foul trouble they could be screwed. Overall, I just don't like the feel of this Louisville team. I know they have Pitino and he should have them ready, but I think UC-Irvine keeps it close the whole game and easily covers +9. Another bet I really like is Oregon pk vs Ok.State. This is the tale of two teams in different directions. Oregon has won 8 of their last 10 including two wins over Utah. Ok St. has lost 6 of their last 7 including loses over Texas Tech and TCU. Ok.St. got bounced in the first round of conf. tourney, while Oregon was in the Pac-12 final. Oregon is on the rise and Ok.State is falling fast. They both have their go to guys; Oregon has Pac-12 POY Young while Ok,St has Senior Nash. Nash doesn't play hard every game from what I have seen of him He has the skills to take over every game but sometimes it seems like hes just not completely into the game. Young can also take over games with his shooting and ability to get to the hoop and kick for open shots. From what I have seen, he wants the ball in his hands at all important stages of the game. Oregon is much more athletic than Ok.State. Cook, Bell and Benjamin are all super athletic and Cook provides a nice scoring option if Young is off. Brooks is also a quality player who provides a bit of everything. Forte is a good player for Ok.State. He is tough and can hit shots and is a good game manager. I don't think he can hang with Young though. Cobbins is a decent big man but doesn't usually have huge impacts on games. Nash will HAVE to dominate for Ok.State to win. I just don't see it. I am playing Oregon pk. Have some more games but have to go do something for a bit, will do some more write-ups a little later. Good luck everyone. created a topic UMASS - AKRON Tuesday 11/18 -QB INJURY!! in College Football Umass QB Blake Frohnapfel is DOUBTFUL to play in this game. Umass coach calls him a "game-time decision." If he cannot go, red-shirt Freshman Austin Whipple will get the nod. He is the son of Umass coach Mark Whipple. replied to FYI .. Suspensions in College Basketball Briante Weber is one of the lynch pins of Shaka's "Havoc" brand of basketball. He averaged 3.5 steals last year. However, VCU is deep. Lee averaged 30+ minutes for Cle State. I am on VCU -4.5, Weber news came out after I locked it. I wouldn't bet it to where it is now which is -8 at my book. Weber is suspended for the game vs Tenn and an exhibition, while Lee is suspended for the first 6 games of the year.
