when will i ever learn ... wager with your head, not your heart. .... with the other teams having 2 games in hand I think the flames are already done. only way they will make it is by a colossal collapse by dallas aneheim or nashville. odds are stacked against those boys now ... I'm getting used to them being shitty enough not to make the playoffs, but not bad enough to get a decent draft pick ... combine that with a below standard scouting staff, that teams in trouble for a long long time ... they need to rip it all down and start again same as the oilers/penguins/blackhawks did. suck it up for 5 years and you'll have a chance at bulding something. |

... just one more note In thursady's win over the Avalanche Iggy potted his 31st and 32nd goals ( 1st one was the first goal of the game, 2nd was in the 3rd with the game well in hand - and remember, -it's the avalanche ) before that game Iginla went 4 straight without a goal, and before that it was a 4 game goal scoring streak. he's always been a cold start/hot finish and he'll light it up in bunches. Again, I feel like the Flames are going to come out firing ... it's do or die time for them. just some food for thought ... 1st period OV

CGY @ ANA Sunday
I haven't seen a line on these two yet, but I'm sure Anaheim will be favored slightly. If my memory serves me correct the ducks have beaten the flames the last couple of meetings with both games going to extra time. Anaheim is playing well right now going 6-2 in their last 8 ... But those flames are fighting for their lives and I'm seeing a BIG WIN for them with an OVER ... those Flames should light it up, coming off a bit of a rest after a few BIG losses and a redemtion win against the avalanche while ANA is in the 2nd game of back2back's ... CGY x2 goals & OV 5.5 T |

When you look into a players stats it tells you alot more than just performance, it’s truly about his game. By now, the players that lead their teams have shown enough trends through-out the season, situational play becomes a little easier to read and as your kickin’ back watchin the game, wondering if your balls are big enough to bite on a wager, I’ll be watching my team make a quick exit from the playoffs. A two month winning streak vaulted the Flames, almost into the “contender” category. Notice the almost. Some could say they are peakin at the right time, starting to play collectively and ready to make a nice run in the playoffs. Kippersoff is hot, finally finding a plug for all his holes - 3rd in wins, this from a basement 1st half, safe to say he’s got his game back. (I still wish they would trade the guy).... Blinded fans have their cup run on the brain from a few years back, and the ”Iginla” on their mind that scrapped his way to what should have been a 1st Stanley Cup. I still can’t ever remember a fight in the Stanley cup finals between the two opposing stars referring to the Iginla/Lecavalier scrap, not to mention the previous rounds. Anyways I’m WAY off topic ... Iginla isn’t money. The flames ARE Iginla’s team, but they need a Mr. Clutch in that engine of theirs. Iggy’s ... well...a #2. At least this year anyways. Although 72% of his points come in the 3rd period, all is not as it seems. 73 games played with 19 of them going into overtime &/or shootout ... Iginla has 1 goal. That’s right 1! ... when the game is on the line, Iginla is definately not your guy with only 26 pts (7g 19a) coming when the team is losing. Don’t get me wrong though, the Flames collectively are firing on all cylinders so Iginla doesn’t “have” to be ‘the man’ ... With the Flames having the most potent offense since the all star break, tied for the league lead in goals and leading in team assists. Pre all star break they were 35 goals behind 1st place. A remarkable feat I must say. But Iginla? Just look at his stats. 22g 16a when his team wins. That’s great. 26 of those points have come when the flames are ALREADY winning! When the team loses that’s a different story. 10g 22a & when already losing he is 7g 19a. Notice a trend here? teams winning. He’s got a bit of confidence. Team’s losing at he pulls right back, more of a set-up guy. Sure he’s diggin in the corners and getting his nose dirty like a good lil’ bitch, but when the game’s on the line my ass is on my wallet when it comes to this guy. 10 straight 30 goal seasons, sure. But when you only have 6 clutch points with 1 goal in 73 games ... Playoffs are a whole new ball game and if this is what adversity this season does to Iginla, all my wagers are off. With the Flames thin up the middle already, their hopes might be riding high with Langkow returning or the call up of Kotalik, not even a hot Kippersoft can ride this one out. Flames are out in 4 straight, ... if they even make it to the dance. |

Philly has to bust out at some point, its just a matter of when but they' re looking awful right now ... never underestimate the rebound after a 7-0 blowout though ... look what happened when the flames were embarassed at home 6-0 by the wild .. bam! instant contenders ;) i'm still going to bite on that one tho

my take ... shutouts are going to be hard to come by with so much skill on the ice each nite so its better to put your focus on where your points are .. goals .. the players will be stepping up their game and these olypics are going to be unlike any in the past. i think the high end players will produce and produce large. ovechkin and malkin will be a dynamic duo .. if you can get both, its points in the bank for ya .. crosby has been shown up by ovechkin a number of times, dont think that he wont factor that in. he will def be bringing his A game .. as for country's .. canada russia usa in that order, the gold medal game between canada and russia are going to blow the ratings through the roof!!
happy pickin's
