Thursday night's picks are in! Tonight the coin calls for the under and dog to cover. Best of luck to all. If early history is an indication, the under is the play....according to the coin.

Alright ladies. Week two at least had some movement. Many people were beat down in my survivor league and I heard quite a few choice words about the games this weekend. Here's how the coin fared....

Much like the experiments they do with monkeys picking stocks against the "experts". Sometimes they outperform the professionals, and other times they prove, well, that they're monkeys. I'm NOT an expert. In my amateur experience, I have listened to the experts and done my own research and analysis. There are seasons where I'm a genius and people should be so lucky to know my picks. And then there's seasons (like last year) where I'm a bumbling fool and have no business even watching football let alone bet on it. So if this is a complete waste of your time, feel free to move on. If you'd like to show your prowess, go ahead and post your picks for every game on Thursday and see how you do against the coin. BOL

As I originally posted, the "experts" typically only win 50-60% over the life of the season and they spend hours\days toiling over research, trends, inside info, etc. etc. So we'll see....

Here we go with Week 2 picks. On a personal note, I like the coin's picks for tonight but disagree with many of the others.
Do you agree or disagree with the coin for TNF?

Last Thursday night the coin goes 2-0. This week the coin believes it will be UNDER 44.5 and PIT +2.5. BOL to all!

Personally, I'm taking SF/DAL O51; MIN +3; PHI -10.5 BOL to all today!

There is a typo on the coin's selection for PHI JAX. It should read JAX +10.5

I have a post on my space about a tout service with "guaranteed" picks. They went 0-11 and told me to double up with every new pick. Then when after I took a week off they yelled at me and told me they were on a hot streak while I was away. They are a total joke. Even if you watch Money Talks on CNBC, you will see they have you double up after each loss so when you finally do win, they look like they are geniuses. Save your money and your sanity. So the coin starts off the year 2-0, picking SEA and the Over. Wish my own pick started out as strong. I'm 0-1 thus far. We'll see how the rest of the week goes.

It's two flips. If you look at the picks there is a variety of outcomes that wouldn't align with just one flip.

Ok, here we go with Week 1. The lines were provided by Covers as of Thursday morning at 11:30 PDT. Hopefully the format is easy enough to understand. Personally, for TNF I'm picking GB +5.5 and the Over, so I'm interested to see how I do against the coin tonight.
Good luck to all!

The coin flip theory.
Have you ever hit that point of desperation (a la John Anthony in the movie
Two For the Money) where you make a wagering decision based on a coin flip? Where your own research, statistical
breakdowns, expert advice, etc., etc., all equated to a loss at the end of the
game? Many of us have latched on to the
hottest prognosticator on this or other websites to ride their coattails to
victory. However I’ve read that even a
great handicapper will only win about 55-60% of their total picks over the
course of a season. I predict a coin
flip can do better. Pschaw you say?? Let’s
see how you do against the coin. Here’s my experiment. Just for the sake of science, I will flip the same coin for
every game of the season and post the results here before the Thursday night
game. I will post the lines I am picking
against and we will see how the coin flip does over the course of each week and
season. To keep things consistent, the
home team will always be heads as will the over (thus visitors will be tails as
will the under). Keep in mind, I will be choosing lines based
their postings Thursday….so if there are last minute changes to the lines prior
to game time, those will not be reflected.
Also, if a game is off the board pending an injury update, that will not
be accounted for either unless I feel like doing it Sunday morning (don’t count
on that). Let’s see how it goes…… |
