replied to Topic: Topic: Bubba's $$$$ Thread ~ SATURDAY ~ Post Your BEST Play (With Write-up) ~ 05/20/16 in Website Promotions $$$$ Collected -150 over Awesome Speed $$$ This is only my second $$$$ post, and try to be very selective in my posts vs. the plays I normally make. Really like this head to head matchup at the Preakness (Kilo explained head to head matchups in his post above). Collected is a Bob Baffert horse, who in my opinion is the best trainer in the game right now, and possibly one of the best trainers ever. It's never a good idea to bet against a Baffert horse. Collected has won his past 2 races (3 out of past 4) including his last race won at Keeneland (not an easy race by any means) On the other side of the matchup we have Awesome Speed who received an automatic bid by winning through disqualification at a race in Laurel, MD. The Laurel track doesn't bring in good horses by any stretch of the imagination, so for Awesome Speed to win by disqualification, is like the Braves beating the Phillies last night. Not impressive. While this bet is a fade of Awesome Speed, I also love Collected. I'm not betting any WPS for this race because of the sloppy track, but if I was, I'd be tossing Collected in my bets. With that being said, I'm about 45 minutes from the track, and the rain looks to be holding off for a bit. If it does become a sloppy track, I still really really like this bet. replied to Bubba's $$$$ Thread ~ SATURDAY ~ Post Your BEST Play (With Write-up) ~ 05/14/16 in MLB Betting Been following this thread for awhile now, and I finally want to jump in with a play. $$$$ HOUSTON/BOSTON OVER 10 $$$$ Both teams can hit the ball well, as evidenced last night. The Red Sox have been on a tear lately and are not showing signs of letting up. After giving up a 4 run lead last night, I see the Red Sox coming out really hot, wanting to take a lead that they won't give up. Only problem with that is their pitcher - Buchholz the bum. He had one good outting vs. Toronto (not saying much based on how their bats have been swinging). In his other 6 outings, he gave up 2 runs (once), 4 runs (once) and 5 runs (3 times). It's a clear day with 10MPH winds in Boston so the ball should fly pretty well. Now, here's what really tipped the scale for me to make this a $$$$ play and post. Jackie Bradley Jr. has been in the 9 spot, and on a 19 game hitting streak. I've been following JBJ since he was at my alma mater and helped bring us to the national championship. He's finally having his year and is on a roll. Why do I care so much about JBJ today? He'll be batting in the 2 spot today. First time to my knowledge that he'll be at the top of the order. We have Mookie has the leadoff, JBJ, Bogaerts, Ortiz and Hanly. Love that top of the lineup. Not to mention the usual suspects will still be in the lineup (outside of Pedroia). With that order, even if the bottom of the lineup can't string hits together, the batters I just listed will get the bats rolling. I'm also on Cubbies RL, CWS RL, Nats RL (second game), and KC RL. replied to mets vs sd in MLB Betting I've been thinking the same thing. The Mets have made me a ton this season, and on the surface it looks like the Mets will easily win (especially with DeGrom on the bump). With the Mets playing yesterday and traveling out to the West Coast, I could see this being a lot tighter than it looks on paper. replied to Do we dare take South Carolina again? in College Basketball While I'm a proud Gamecock alum, I always fade my team in basketball. USC has a great home court environment, and there's some talent there (knocking off #8 at the time A&M on the road) but it's not consistent. created a topic WEEK 3 PICKS - 3-3 ON SEASON in College Football Rough week last week...Let's see what we have this week WISCO -18.5 1H I see Wisco coming out hot and driving up the score early. Full game should be a good bet too, but I'd like to collect my money at halftime. A&M -20.5 1H I see a repeat of last week. Nevada has similiar power ranking stats to Ball state, so the score should be lopsided again at halftime. NOTRE +3 FG I think Notre's QB is given too much credit - 8 points of credit according to power rankings. They're a solid squad, and I like getting 3 points here. LEANS: Alabama - 7 Auburn +7 South Carolina +16 (As I've said before, I'm a clear South Carolina fan. I was tempted when the line was +17, but it's since dropped. I like the Ol' Ball Coach getting that many points, but the Gamecocks are just god awful, let alone going between the hedges in Athens. It's a tough stadium, and I keep going back and forth on this game. Will probably stay away so my bias doesn't affect my betting, but I still don't think it's a bad pick). Like the first half line because the starters should play the majority of the half. UGA -13 1H Same reasoning as above. Vandy is god awful. UGA will come out hot and dominate. A two touchdown lead in the first half is absolute minimum damage down by UGA. Okalahoma -1 game This will be fairly close, but Okalahoma will pull away. I think 36 points is a lot to cover, so I like the 1H play. Also concerned about starters coming out in the 2nd half if the score gets run up. created a topic Thursday College Football in College Football Have only really looked at SCAR vs. UNC so far more picks to come... SCAR -3 For full disclosure, I went to South Carolina for college, and some may consider me biased towards the school. However, I have bet against them in the past. I bet with my mind, not my heart. That being said, I don't see the Gamecocks losing tomorrow night. South Carolina was way too hyped up last year and got embarassed by A&M at home. While this is in North Carolina, it's closer to Columbia, SC than it is to Chapel Hill. Lots of Gamecocks will be filling up the stadium, giving the Gamecocks the home field edge. There's a lot of uncertainty with this young team, but the new QB Connor Mitch has looked decent in previous games as well as during practice. I see him potentially getting rattled the first few drives, but settling down. Players like Pharoh Cooper will definitely need to step up and want to shine. Players aside, let's look at the Ol' Ball Coach. Spurrier is 23-2 on first games of the CFB season (with one of those losses coming last year). He doesn't like to lose the first game and is proud of that record. I've seen all of the stats - the Gamecocks are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 September games while the Tarheels are 6-1 ATS in their last Thursday games. While I understand the stats and get what it might look like on paper, I don't see the Gamecocks dropping this one. I'm a Gamecock fan, follow the team diligently, and don't understand it. The Gamecocks will not win, not happening tonight. Even though it's at SCAR it's Spring Break so there won't be home court advantage. Also, it's senior night, which might help as well because they'll start all seniors who don't get much playing time. Arkansas -2.5 Even though I'm a Gamecock fan, I don't find any way that SCAR will pull this one out. Arkansas has a better power differential and has too much on the line. Also, Spring Break at South Carolina starts tomorrow so lots of students are already out of town - home court advantage won't be a factor. Temple -6 Again, high power differential, leaving 2-3 points on the board in Temple's favor. ECU has not been playing well and this should be an easy one for Temple. Stanford +1.5 Stanford needs a win and has a better chance of getting it at ASU than against Arizona. Although ASU is a rough home court, their Spring Break begins tomorrow as well, so home court advantage shouldn't be a big factor.
