Whats up WussieMan? I feel your thoughts on teasers, I don't think you are wrong. I used to strictly play teasers and was losing more than I was winning. However, I think you can win a good amount of money if you pick your spots and be patient. 5dimes lets you do a 15 game open teaser. I compiled some data for an entire season on wins and losses with the teaser. I think I did it for the 2016 season. I just looked at games where you would win no matter what side you played with that amount of points. It hit 75%, and that was just betting it blind. If you throw capping the right side into the mix, that number would have to go up. You can check it out here, if you want, its pretty interesting.
https://www.covers.com/forum/ViewThread/102484764/13-point-teaser I hit a 15 game at 13 points, which paid +875. picked my spots and did it in 6 weeks. Back to your point, I tried doing it again and got into trouble, giving most of it back. I was rushing it. I was down to my last $5,000 last year and said F it, started a 15 game teaser at 12.5 points, which paid out +1100.I started at the beginning of the season and hit my last game with pats at I think +3.5 against the jags in last years playoffs. Stupid I know. I almost had a heart attack that game. It was crazy. I have the 5dimes teaser promotion so those that do not might see the odds a little less. After that madness, I'm done with playing teasers on the regular, however I am going to start a 12.5 open teaser at 15 games on the side and just pick my spots. I'll probably throw like $1500 on it for a nice payout. If it takes me up until the superbowl, so be it. The rule is I have to get at least 2 TD's to make a play. Other than that, I agree with you. Forget the teasers. |

On 5dimes, Cavs are -115 for the series, pacers -105. Sunday game is at a pk. Not sure how to read this. If pacers win tomorrow, highly doubt cavs win 3 in a row. They've done it before yes but not so sure this year. Several different ways to play this I think. The objective would be to win both bets obviously but I'm thinking it can be set up to either win both bets in the game tomorrow and series, or to split and maybe lose some juice. Maybe Cavs ml tomorrow with pacers series win? Are books saying Cavs win tomorrow with those numbers? I know I'm missing something. Would like to hear everyone's perspective. |

Feel like I'm in great shape just needing the Patriots to win at home to cash both tickets. Stranger things in Football have happened so not counting my chickens yet but I feel good. What I don't understand is why 5Dimes has the Patriots/Jax game at -10??? Heritage has it at -8.5 and it's been 8.5 all week. You should be able to get the Patriots at +4 with your 12.5 Teaser. 5Dimes is squeezing you on that line. If you're leaning Patriots I would definitely wait until game time to fill that last Open Leg and get at least +3. GL with whatever you decide. Thanks Goose. 21 points? Damn, what are the odds on that one for number of games? 5dimes has a 20 pt. Max games is 15 and i think its at like -120. Good luck to you as well man. Let's both cash this weekend.

Thanks for all the replies. It has definitely given me some things to think about, even more than I already was.
Hall of fame - I know, the -10 was juiced to +120 I think. Now its at -9.5 at +115 now so you know money is coming in on the jags. Like DoubleUp said, 5dimes shades their lines to give players less of an advantage, or no advantage, when playing teasers. The most popular are 6 or 7 pt teasers, it seems they adjust the lines based on that. To undermysac, the payout I got is 11 to 1. I have the teaser promotion on 5dimes, so you might see something different without the promotion. Im thinking maybe 10 to 1 without it. I threw 5K on this one, so this is crucial. Like I said, could be the biggest hit i've ever had. I got some debt to pay from earlier in the year but i'll still be in the green with this. I had a pretty bad season, killed my whole bankroll. I said ill do this last 5 and if i dont make it, nothing left in the tank until next season. Dumb? Very. However, here I am, just 1 more to go. Hedging is the first thing you think of with something like this, especially with a jags ml of almost 3 to 1, but im not really trying to deposit anymore this season. To be honest, I really dont have it. As of right now, i could get the pats +3 or jags +22. For me its still tough. All I still keep hearing is how jags will be an easy cover. I dont like playing those. What do you guys think about brady's supposed hand injury?

Whats up covers and fellow degenerates? I'm hoping some of you guys on here can shed some light on what the best play would be to finish this thing out. I know you guys are alot better than me at this. I started a 15 game, 12.5 teaser on Thanksgiving and have 14 games down, 1 to go. Throughout this ride I had to come correct with some heavy discipline and have been as selective as possible each week. I cant mess this up now. This would definitely be the biggest hit i've ever had. Game changer type stuff. Here is what I'm looking at for Sunday: Pats +2.5 or Jags +22.5 / Vikes +9.5 or Eagles +15.5. I know all those points look nice but when its 17-3 at halftime and my balls are the size of walnuts I won't be feeling too good. As far as Pats/Jags, part of me says pats dont lose. Seems like Jags are a public dog and ESPN and all the "experts" hyping the Jags up is usually a good sign to go the other way, just like Falcons. I don't know why, but more times than not it seems thats how it plays out. As far as Vikes/Eagles, I say Vikes win but points will probably be a premium for that one. Maybe the +15.5 with the Eagles is the way to go. Any thoughts? I would appreciate any input. By the way, Ive got a 12.5 tease/ties push using 5dimes. Much love. |

Capodecina...I feel your pain and loss for direction at this point man. I don't post much on here but since I'm feeling where you are coming from I figured I would say some words, if at all possible to help you in any way. A few years back i was down big, said F it and put $500 down on a 25 team parlay on 5dimes. I hit it in a little over 5 weeks between college and NFL ml's, mostly high juice of course. Hit for a little over 28K. Was that stupid? Yes. Was I very lucky? Yes. To paint a picture of the roller coaster my 24th game was seattle ml against detroit on thursday night. I know you remember that one where detroit fumbled at the goal line and seattle dude hit it out the back of the endzone....no flag. I thought it was done before that. Talk about lucky. I was doing laps around the living room. That saturday i think i picked Baylor to beat kansas.....juice was probably -650000 just to get it done. Crazy. My point is you can dig yourself out of a hole, however ask yourself how much more are you willing to lose in the process. Some good advice on here was to stop gambling, however we both know we love that action, so that might not happen for you. That might not ever happen for us. Since that big hit, I tried the 25 teamer again several times and it never happened. At the end of the day it is just too much. Too many things can go wrong, and they do. What I have found to be successful however, is open 15 game teasers. For the past 2 years I have hit one that set up a nice bankroll for the season. 13 points/ties reduce/15 games/+875. 12.5 points/ties reduce/15 games/+1100. Throw a couple grand on either and you would be right back in it. What I like with those is you can take however long necessary to find those "perfect" games. I am very selective, maybe 1-3 max games per week. I will not pick a game unless I am getting a minimum of 10 points. Find a nice home dog and you could get over 2 TD's. I made a thread earlier in the year about these teasers. Last year I compiled the data for every game, except week 17, utilizing the 13 point tease and the majority of games, either side would have won. One thing to keep in mind, I have the teaser promotion on 5dimes, which gives me slightly better odds than what you might see if you dont have it. Easy switch with customer service. If i were in your shoes, i would give it 1 last big shot. Say 4-5K on one of those teasers. for the 13 point, payout would be 35K or more. Take your time with it. 1 game a week maybe. If it happens, you are back. If not, feel good about stopping all the stress and drama that is gambling and save your money and enjoy life as it was meant to be enjoyed. Much luck and success to you man. Take it easy.

Check out 5dimes. You can do a maximum 25 game parlay and maximum 15 game tease. Nice payouts on teasers. If you are going with teasers make sure you get the teaser promotion when you sign up for better odds. I got a 15 game teaser going on right now at 13 points, no time limit on picking your games. BOL to you.

I was always curious about the reduced juice. I think I started off with the teaser promotion when I initially joined so I never seen what it was. What do they give, something like -105 instead of -110 for all games?

Looking at it now on 5dimes, I got +875 for 13 point tease/ties reduced, ties lose +1000. The 12.5 ties reduced is +1100/ties lose is +1200. The options do not differentiate between NFL and all other football. It just has a football points total and a basketball points total. Maybe this is because the active promotion on my account is the teaser promotion.

Edit on last, my apologies. The 13 point teaser with ties reduced pays out +875. The 12 point teaser pays +1300. Looking at too much data.

Total for week 1 = 14-2 Total for week 2 = 14-2 Total for week 3 = 9-7 Total for week 4 = 12-3 Total for week 5 = 11-2-1 Total for week 6 = 10-5 Total for week 7 = 13-2 Total for week 8 = 10-2-1 Total for week 9 = 10-3 Total for week 10 = 12-2 Total for week 11 = 13-1 Total for week 12 = 11-5 Total for week 13 = 9-5-1 Total for week 14 = 14-2 Total for week 15 = 11-5 Total for week 16 = 10-6 Total for week 17 = 8-8 (do not recommend betting week 17 unless the game matters) Total W/L for season = 191-62-3 = roughly 75% That is 75% for just winning no matter what team you picked. If you cap it right, the number has to go higher. 13 points is alot and so is winning 15 games straight. As we know, nothing is guaranteed in this business of ours. Still, being very selective with your plays, still doing your research, I think one can be very successful with this. $1,000 gets you $13,000 if you can do it. I'm interested to hear what cappers above my level, which are probably most, have to say. Did I just get lucky last year or is there something more to this? |

Whats up covers? Almost that time again, its a beautiful thing for us degenerates. I'm hoping to get your thoughts/expertise on an experiment I did last year with a 13 point teaser and hit. I'm looking at a 15 game, 13 point teaser on 5dimes to start the season...payout is +1300. I was on tilt mode last year (baseball killed my bankroll throughout the summer) and threw $2000 on one to start the season off. I hit it within the first 5 weeks of the season. I figured I could land 3 games a week, sometimes I did more. The majority of the games I coasted. Either side I picked would have won. A few I just had the right team, and one or two were really close calls. I'm thinking I could do it again. Trust me, I know the "large parlays are a suckers bet, you are throwing your money away, only +1300 for 15 games?" narrative applies here, I get it. I might even agree. But if very selective with this, focused, limiting plays each week, I feel you can make some dough with this. I cross-referenced every week from last season to see how many games where both sides would have won with a 13 point tease with ties reduced, which means a tie is a push, doesn't kill the parlay. The data is pretty interesting. I counted all games where both sides would not have won as a loss (just spreads, no totals). I will post the details of week 1 to show how I gathered the data, then just wins/losses every following week.
WEEK 1 Carolina Panthers at Denver Broncos (-1.5, 43.5) Final Score 20-21 = W Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Falcons (-3,46) Final Score 31-24 = W Minnesota Vikings at Tennessee Titans (+3, 43) Final Score 25-16 = W Cleveland Browns at Philadelphia Eagles (-7.5, 45.5) Final Score 10-29 = W Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets (+1, 43) Final Score 23-22 = W Oakland Raiders at New Orleans Saints (PK, 50) Final Score 35-34 = W San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs (-7, 43) Final Score 27-33 = W Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens (-3, 43.5) Final Score 7-13 = W Chicago Bears at Houston Texans (-5, 44.5) Final Score 14-23 = W Green Bay Packers at Jacksonville Jaguars (+3.5, 47) Final Score 27-23 = W Miami Dolphins at Seattle Seahawks (-8.5, 44.5) Final Score 10-12 = W New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (-4, 50) Final Score 20-19 = W Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts (-4, 50) Final Score 39-35 = W New England Patriots at Arizona Cardinals (-1, 51.5) Final Score 23-21 = W Pittsburgh Steelers at Washington Redskins (-3, 50.5) Final Score = 38-16 = L Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers (-2, 46) Final Score = 0-28 = L |

Western Union not offered. I deposited with them in the past and it was like pulling teeth with the 21 questions. You basically have to make up a story of why you are sending the money and even then they MIGHT approve it. In my case they did, but I probably wouldnt have got it through again. I would think it would be the same thing if I were trying to get money. As far as bitcoin, I just did the whole process and took out $500 just to see. Very easy. The crazy thing is how volatile it is. The bitcoin was put into the account early this morning. By the time I took it out, which was around 7p.m., about 12 hrs later, it was worth $482. Nothing serious, but crazy how it is going down.

I found an interesting article dated Dec 3, 2016 regarding an IRS summons for coinbase users.
https://www.coindesk.com/irs-summons-will-mean-coinbase-users/ Basically, the IRS has begun an investigation of United States persons who conducted transactions in a convertible virtual currency during 2013 to 2015. Maybe bitcoin is not the way going forward if one does not intend to pay taxes and doesn't want to get caught up. Or am I just being paranoid? Any thoughts/experiences on this? |

JS12, what I meant by "have to" is because as we all know, in this business we are not claiming/paying taxes on winnings. I believe most aren't anyway, as that would probably be a bad move. What I am trying to figure out is what would minimize raising a red flag. Getting payment via checks or using bitcoin. It could be that they have the same risk associated, but I am not sure. I usually withdraw under $4,000 a month via check. I am wondering if I did the same with bitcoin, would it raise the probability of that red flag.

What's up covers? I'm a long time lurker that loves the knowledge and different perspectives I get on here. I have a question regarding bitcoin and withdrawing. Usually, I go with a check from 5dimes but their check option has been down for awhile so I started looking into Bitcoin, which they still offer as a payout option. At first glance it seemed perfect, easy payout once you get set up, no fees from 5dimes, but then I thought about taxes, specifically capital gains. I've done a good amount of research on the topic and it seems like there is really no way around "having to" pay taxes on it. If that's not accurate please school me to the game. At the same time, we all "have to" pay taxes on any income, such as the check I normally get. The question is if there is no way around taxes, which would be the safer way to go in the long run, wait for the checks to come back or jump into bitcoin? I would appreciate any info. Much love.
