Detroit Tigers at Seattle Mariners Doug Fister vs Aaron Harang Odds: DET -135 SEA +125, O/U: 7 Harang just signed with Seattle and this will be his season debut and hasn’t logged an inning since spring training. I get a strong feeling that facing the Detroit offense who’s stroking it right now is not the greatest of spots for him. Fister on the other hand for Detroit, will be pitching in very familiar country. As a former Mariner, he’s compiled a 3.32 career ERA in 235 innings pitched at Safeco. He’s coming off a dominant performance against the Jays. Detroit -135 |

#1 Toronto Blue Jays at Kansas City Royals Brandon Morrow vs Ervin Santana Odds: KC -115 TOR -105, O/U: 8.5 Morrow got ripped by the Tigers in his last outing. When you have 3 pitches and you’re still working on your changeup/splitter combo, and you can’t locate your 2ndpitch slider, hitters like to tee off on the ol’ number 1, it’s going to be a long afternoon. Until he finds it, trust the status quo. Morrow could be happy to oblige as he is a part of a starting staff that has the worst ERA in the league at 7.55. Ervin Santana led the Majors with 39 homers allowed last year and is a thing of the past and is coming off a stellar outing. Joey Bats is the only one that sees him well and we think he can avoid serious damage from him being only 1 game removed from the Golden Sombrero. KC is 6-3 (+325) on the year and we anticipate that winning trend to continue. Royals -115 Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox Alex Cobb vs Clay Buchholz combo here. Under 8.5 |

Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox Alex Cobb vs Felix Doubront Odds: BOS -120 TB +110, O/U: 9 Alex Cobb was solid in his last outing, shutting down the Indians over 7 1/3rd and allowing only 4 hits. Cobb was fantastic down the stretch last year for the Rays as he allowed 3 runs or fewer in 14 of his last 15 starts. Cobb doesn’t rely on a power arm as he barely touches 90 mph on a two seam, but his command is on and is keeping the ball down. The 25 year old looked in mid season form in the spring, posting a 2.81 ERA in 25 innings and will look to induce ground balls against a Boston club that recorded 18 GB outs yesterday. Felix Doubront on the other hand owned a 2.00 WHIP in 2011, and a 1.45 in 2012. Until this kid can consistently locate his stuff and get ahead of hitters, we will be looking to fade his ball club on the day he pitches. Boston was up 5-3 2 days ago and everybody was toasting how what a difference a season makes. Hanrahan went out to blow the 9th and lost to Baltimore on Wednesday, and got beat again by them yesterday. Here come the Rays. TB +110 |

Today’s Picks Toronto Blue Jays -125 Chicago Cubs +135 KC/Philadelphia Under 7 (+106) Seattle/CWS Under 7.5 LA Dodgers -155 Boston Red Sox at Toronto Blue Jays Jon Lester vs R.A. Dickey Odds: Tor -125 Bos +115 , O/U: 8 R.A. Dickey needed some apparent time with Arencibia. R.A. Dickey and Arencibia both were a little nervous in the home opener and the results were a little shaky. However, they did settle in and I look for a Cy Young performance here. His knuckle was ranging around 80 mph’s and his velocity on his fastball was in the mid 80’s as it has always been. He’s always like the indoors and against a Boston lineup that has hit an offensive funk, this is not the right time to bounce out of it. For Toronto on the offensive side, they are on the up and up averaging 6.3 runs in their last 3 games and a lot of the Jays hitters see the ball well off of Lester, lead the AL now in HR’s with 11. JP has gone deep twice, Joey Bats 4 times, Rajai, Derosa, and Encarnacion have also homered off Lester and I expect some more fireworks today. Toronto at this price is legit and look to win their 3rd game in 4 days. Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox Hisashi Iwakuma vs Chris Sale Odds: CWS -170 Sea +150, O/U: 7.5 Iwakuma looked impressive in his 1st start of the year walking none and striking out seven. The Mariners are 4-0 in his last 4 starts and Sale, who also looked great in his 1st start, and the Sox are 7-1 in his 8 starts at home. Sale is 2-0 with a 2.55 in his career against Seattle and after watching them play yesterday, both offenses should be kept in check and off balance again today. Under 7.5. Kansas City Royals at Philadelphia Phillies James Shields vs Cole Hamels Odds: Phi -140 KC +120, O/U: 7.5 KC was stunned as all of us were too. We had a comfortable win coming as we backed the Royals yesterday to only have Holland enter the 9th up 3-1 and walk the bases loaded. He found it somehow, struck out the next two which provided up hope, but then served a 3 run double up to pinch hitter Frandsen. Mendoza looked brilliant throwing 6IP and only surrendering 2 hits and I expect the same today with Shields. He threw solid in his season debut and will face Hamels who wasn’t so hot in his 1st start, giving up 3 jacks in 5 IP mostly due to falling behind in the count. Hamels had a tremendous spring in which is command was there and should bounce back today against KC who couldn’t even really sniff an inferior lefty to Hamels in John Lannan. Hamels owned a 2.73 ERA last year in April and looks like a solid outing is in the making. The over/under is on the move now, by the time you read this it’ll be at 7, I like it there as well, Under 7 (+106) as of press time. Pittsburgh Pirates at LA Dodgers Jeff Locke vs Hyun-Jin Ryu Odds: LAD -155 Pit +145, O/U: 7.5 Ryu threw well in his MLB debut against the Giants last time out, pitching himself out of jams. The Dodgers have won 9 of 10 in the series. This is a great price, Dodgers win big. Chicago Cubs at Atlanta Braves Jeff Samardzija vs Tim Hudson Odds: Atl -150 ChC +135, O/U: 7 The 28 year old Samardzija was dominant in his 1st outing representing his mid 90’s heater and that nasty split that he uses to upset the hitter’s timing. He’ll face an Atlanta offense only averaging 3.3 runs in their last 3 games and has a great chance to keep them fishing at the plate again today. Tim Hudson toes the rubber for Atlanta and has looked average thus far in the spring and in his first outing. He’s a sinker/slider guy who intends to induce hitters to be out in front or late on pitches, but it appears he doesn’t quite have his legs yet. But at 37, it could take longer than in years past. The Cubs are a live dog at Turner Field today and look to win this one before heading back to Chicago for a 7 game home stand beginning with the Brewers on Monday. |

Washington Nationals at Cincinnati Reds Ross Detwiler vs Mike Leake Odds: Cin -112 Was +102, O/U: 8.5 MLB’s best 5th starte in Detwiler toes the rubber for the Nats a day after they got pounded 15-0. The Nats, no doubt will be reiterating short term memory in the clubhouse and will be facing a pitcher in Leake who pitched poorly last season at home (5.54 ERA) and rocked a 6.65 in April. Washington is a great dog to get on today! |

Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates Edwin Jackson vs Wandy Rodriquez Odds: Pit -135 Chi +125, O/U: 7 Wandy looked great this WBC and spring attacking hitters and getting ahead in the count. Edwin has always been a quality start machine, as well as a workhorse. Both clubs played an easy under on opening day, an easy call to let it ride on the under.

The Giants look to even the series today after getting whacked around by Clayton Kershaw, and they have a great chance. Bumgarner is throwing the ball well right now, owning a 2.29 ERA in 6 spring starts. He’s always pitched effectively against the Dodgers and is 5-2 with a 2.98 in his career. Hyun-Jin Ryu makes his MLB debut and I'm not quite convinced he’s ready for the big show. The Giants love hitting lefties on the road last year at night, scoring a whopping 5.4 runs! They know it too and they know they need to even the series. Take the Giants.

Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics Felix Hernandez vs Brett Anderson Sea -105 King Felix is not normally a guy we like to pick on the road with all the past woes of the Mariner Offense. But today, it seems very right. He’s 3-0 with a 1.59 in his 5 opening day starts in his career and has always mowed down Oakland hitters. Hernandez is 13-6, with a 2.82 ERA in his career against Oakland. Brett Anderson strained his right trap in spring and then went on to post a 6.75 ERA in his recovery through the spring. Seattle loves hitting lefty’s on the road and at night while Oakland doesn’t like hitting the King. The Pick is Prime! |

Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates Jeff Samardzija vs A.J. Burnett The Cubs will struggle to put up runs this year, this game, and although Pittsburgh has looked like they’re close for two years in a row, they don’t appear to meshing yet this year. Jeff Samardzija looks ready. The former wideout brings his nasty splitter to the yard and had started to introduce a cutter last year that has carried over to the spring while posting a 3-0 record and 1.16 ERA in 6 starts. He was 2-0 and had a 1.06 last year against the Pirates and looks poised to replicate that again today with a squad still looking for that clutch hit with runners on base. For Pittsburgh, AJ Burnett makes his 1st opening day start in 15 years and was also solid against the opposition in posting 2-1 record and a 1.40 ERA, 18K-5BB ratio in 5 starts. Both pitchers will keep their teams in this one and we expect a low scoring affair today. Pittsburgh’s bullpen is very good and should be able to clean up the day when AJ departs. The Cubs shaky pen should get lucky as Samardzija goes deep and turns it over to more quality arms later on. Take the UNDER 7(projected).

Tigers/ Phillies under 10.5, Vlander on the bump with no Howard, Utley, which actually doesn't matter that much. Hamels looking sharp through 4 starts this spring and is coming off a 6 inning outing, striking out 5, and now owns a 1.13 in the spring. This line should be at 9 for the spring in my books. Small spring bet on the under. All the best fellas. Pinnacle has the line up, not sure anywhere else.

As we get a little more in tune with Spring, today I like 2 games as we prime up. Dodgers +103, Beckett dialed in and a full LAD lineup. Royals +100, Guthrie making strides and will have his best performance of Spring.
