This seems too easy.
I want to bet 4 games @ 100 each.
Instead I take the 4 games and randomly play two 2 team parlays
for $100 each for a total $200 risk
Now let's look at possible outcomes
4-0
betting each game . risked 400 made 364
parlay risked 200 made 510
3-1
betting each game risked 400 made 160
parlay risked 200 made 160
2-2
betting each game risked 400 lost 18
parlay risk 200
Possible win 160
possible lose 200
1-3
betting each game risk 400 lose 209
parlay risk 200 lose 200
0-4
betting each game risk lose 400 lose 400
parlay risk 200 lose 200
In 4 of the 5 possible outomes , I do much better with the parlay.

Need some advice from all you veterans. I am going to Vegas first week in april. I need $10,000 to start a new business. I have 2 grand and want to either leave there with my 10 K or lose the 2 K. I will be there for a week and plan on having a good time regardless. I know this is a longshot, but any advice on what my gameplan should be???

It's not because it's suppose to go unknown as a secret for you to make money off of, it is for people to get suckered. The payout to break even on average would be 3-1 for a two team parlay (granted you cap t 50%). As you add additional games to parlays, 3 teams e.g. then the payout should be (the previous odds *2 + 1) so it should be 7-1 for a 3 team parlay. For a 4 team parlay it should be 15-1, and etc. What you will notice is that as you go up, the payout odds from the books start to get further and further away from what they should be giving them a huge house advantage. If any of you have a question about whether you should parlay, I have created a spreadsheets that calculates expected returns and all that. Just give a holler at what you want. But even before that I should say just don't do it in the first place.
Freaky Fresh, Your own data which is great work by the way proves that if you hit 54% of your picks, the 2 team parlay is the way to go. I mean come on, if you can't hit 54% of your picks, then WHY in the hell are we wasting our time llosing money. I dont't believe the outrageous claims of 70% or better, but come on, 54 % Better damn be doable or we are screwed.. Can you post that parlay data you were speaking or just send it to me... |

4-0 .... 6.25% * $400
3-0 .... 25% * $160
2-2 .... 37.5% * -$18
1-3 .... 25% * -$209
0-4 .... 6.25% * -$400
Add them up for an average return and you have -$21.25 which divided by the 400 you laid down on them your return on average is -5.31% of your bet
Now Parlay Style
4-0 .... 6.25% * $510
3-1 .... 25% * $160
2-2 .... 12.5% * $160
2-2 .... 25% * -$200
1-3 .... 25% * -$200
0-4 .... 6.25% * -$200
Your average return here is -$20.63, which is less than the average return on the straight bet.. but you only laid 200 bucks down so the average return is a monterous -10.3% of your bet ... almost twice greater than a straight bet

if you happen to have the 2 winners together in a parlay you win 260 but lose 100 for a 160 profit. if the two winners are in seperate parlays you lose 200 |
