Oh yeah, buying online is definitely the way to go. I research for hours before making my decision at cnet.com, dealcatcher.com, pricegrabber.com, Circuit City, Best Buy, Buy.com, Amazon, etc. Interestingly I found out that amazon.com usually has the best prices for HDTV's; I bought my 50" one there two years ago for only $1500. And he said to stay away from Samsung? They seem to get the majority of the positive reviews from websites and online users. Still undecided about which one to get, but whatever it is, it's gonna be sweet.

Yeah, the quality of blu-ray and the now defunct HD DVD are definitely a plus of 1080p but I don't really watch DVD's too much. Right now I just use my bedroom TV to play Xbox 360 and watch bullshit before I fall sleep. I probably won't buy a blu-ray player for a long time, at least 5-6 years until it becomes the default format for all releases. Speaking of deals on blu-ray players, check out www.dealcatcher.com. They got a coupon code on the front page for $100 off a Samsung Blu-Ray player.

Have you actually compared a 720p and 1080p picture side-to-side? Unless you are getting a signal from a high-quality 1080p source on a screen over 50", you cannot tell a lick of difference. The Samsung model I'm getting has received better image quality reviews than just about all of the 1080p models at a price 30-50% less. From a technical standpoint, there's no doubt that the additional 33% of lines of resolution you get with 1080p should give you a better picture, but in regards to how it actually looks on a small-to-mid-sized screen, it's generally accepted that the difference is negligible and not worth the extra money. |

It's you again. You do know that getting 1080p for sets under 50 inches is essentially worthless, right? And that less than 1% of HD television broadcasts and videogames actually use a native 1080p resolution? Do you understand what the difference between 720p, 1080i and 1080p is? Finally, do you even have a hi-definition television, and if so, is it 1080p? I know you're upset because I embarass you every time you speak in my threads, but hey, you just keep setting yourself up for it.

Hopefully you cashed nicely with the Heat tonight. Could buy yourself a nice set of screwdrivers to help with that TV.

BREAKING NEWS: Economic recession? After I win this bet, I'm buying me another HDTV...
in NBA Betting Just played Kings-Heat on NBA 2K9. With live updated rosters, of course.
Sacramento got off to a good start and went blow for blow with Miami as the first quarter ended up tied 16-16. The Heat, realizing that their interior defense was lacking, switched to a 2-3 zone. As the Kings began to shoot bricks from the outside, Miami went on a run to grab a 9 point lead at halftime. Kings made it a little closer in the second half but Miami seized control in the 4Q, outscoring Sacramento 16-7 in the final period while cruising to a 58-41 victory.
Player notes: Dwyane Wade was the player of the game, going 13-19 from the field for 28 points.
Kevin Martin could not get himself going and shot 3-10 for only 8 points.
Beno Udrih was injured in the 1Q and was out for the remainder of the game.
Looks pretty accurate to me.

Hey, if you capped the game where a one-man team goes ballistic in the closing minutes and gets a backdoor cover by himself, then go for it.

BREAKING NEWS: Economic recession? After I win this bet, I'm buying me another HDTV...
in NBA Betting I already have a 50" Samsung DLP for the living room, but you know what, that old 20" TV/DVD combo in my bedroom is just not cutting it any more. It's like going from a Lamborghini in the day to a Hyundai at night. Not cool. So after hitting this wager tonight, I'm gonna order me a nice 32" LCD so I can slowly drift to sleep every night to the wonderful sights of lions and tigers in 1,366x768 resolution.
So which wager am I talking about?
I'm a Sacramento Kings fan. And right now, this is literally the worst Kings team there has been in the last 15 years. Gone are the days of Bibby, CWebb, Peja, Christie, Divac and the Bench Mob. We're taking it back to the Western Conference cellar days with this lineup we got out there. Our starting lineup is freaking Udrih, Kevin Martin (the only bright spot), Salmons, Mikki Moore and Hawes. Bobby Jackson is back but he's a shell of his former self. We have Shelden Williams on our squad. Shelden Williams.
The rook Jason Thompson looks like he'll be the only guy to help out until Francisco Garcia, a huge part of their rotation as a perimeter shooter, and our half-decent big man Brad Miller get back. With a four-game road trip to start the season because of a scheduled Disney on Ice show at Arco Arena, they're going to need all the help they can get.
Now, Sacramento covered on the road in their opener against Minnesota in a two-point loss. Could this be a good sign? Well, I checked out the Twolves lineup and I realized that game didn't mean anything. The Timberwolves are barely any better than the Kings this year.
So here we are. Sactown at Miami tonight in the Heat home opener. I'm assuming the public knows nothing about this year's Miami squad because the majority of them are on the Kings tonight. Yeah, the Heat had the worst record in the league last year. Yeah, they lost to the New York Knicks, the laughing stock of the NBA for the past few years. But first of all, the Knicks are a completely new-look team this season with D'Antoni at the helm and, to the surprise of most people, they actually have talent. They had talent last year, but with Isiah "The Cancer" Thomas running the show, they had no where to go.
Regardless of that, if you paid attention the NY during the season, you would've found out that they actually performed pretty well, especially against the elite squads of the NBA; it's just that they did not have the discipline or focus to actually end up winning those games. This year, they may actually sneak in as a #6, #7 or #8 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. You watch.
Now, the Heat this year are an underlooked squad, which boggles my mind to by honest. DWade, 2006 Finals MVP and one of the best finishers in the league, is finally back and (relatively) healthy, Shawn Marion a.k.a. the most dynamic well-rounded player in the Association is entering a contract year, their emotional on-court leader Haslem is healthy, and you got two NBA-ready rookies in Chalmers and Beasley contributing already. If Daequan Cook can develop and Shaun Livingston actually gets himself back to 70%, they have a very potent offensive lineup out there. Now, are they going to be a force in the postseason? Probably not, but in the Eastern Conference, they at least have a chance to make it in and we all saw what went down in last season's playoffs with Boston and Atlanta.
Home opener for Miami? Extended road trip for this weak Sacramento squad who is missing two key guys to start the season? 65% on the Kings while the line has moved 1.5 points in the other direction? Underdogs being 13-5 so far in the 2008-09 NBA season?
Do you feel it?
MIAMI HEAT
We got this.

They've got to be the most overshadowed franchise in professional sports history. And the fact that they play in the Staples Center makes it even worse, where 30-40% of the crowd will be Laker fans for their "home" games between the two.
I heard Seattle's open.
Though I'd prefer to see another franchise on the East Coast.
