He may very well be the best goalie in the world, I agree, but if he is he is not that much. Its almost humorous hearing everyone talk like he is some type of epic legend hall of famer. He had one really great regular season, and has done absolutely nothing in the playoffs yet. The only time he won any meaningfull games, is when he had an all star team in front of him that shut down teams, making his work load easy, mind you very important. He is a perfect fit for a team like that. He is amazing postionally, rebounds, and has cool calm head... but he doesnt steal games the way Hasek for instance did. Also in his defense, the game has changed and teams all play way tighter now, and he is a prime example of the new breed of goalies that dont need to steal games, just be solid. Is he a great goalie? For sure. Is he one of the best in the game today? Absolutely. Thats why when people and players talk about who the best goalie is they jump right to him, similar to when the conn smythe is given to a player on a team where nobody clearly stood out but the team exceded expectations, they give it to the goalie. Since before he was even drafted he was the new poster boy of legendary goalies. He has been built up as this far and away alpha goalie that is just so much better than everyone else, when in fact he is clumped in a growing group of great goalies that focus on technicallity and consistency. The truth is, when it comes to goalies, once the game has evolved to the point it has the goalies can only be so good, because when all goalies have the same reflex time, and the position has already exhausted all of the limited creative advantages, all they can do is keep being positinally sound. That is why no one goalie that is an NHL caliber goalie, ks ever that much better than any other. Which is why I personaly believe he is the most overrated player in the game. ?? |

I understand that if you bet a team -0.5 they need to win in regulation to win your bet, and if you bet a team +0.5 they just need to either win in regulation, or make it to overtime to win your bet... but can someone please help me understand the +1 and -1 when it comes to games going to overtime... im assuming that if you bet -1 and that team wins by one goal in regulation, you push your bet, and if they win by two thats a win, and if you bet a team +1 and they win the game you win, and if they lose by one goal you push your bet.... but does going to overtime change anything on either +1 or -1 bet?

Price is so overrated. Their top two centers are out. Tampa got kucherov back (2 assists)... not sure why anyone is surprised the Habs lost.

Thanks... so does that mean if you bet a +0.5 ... all you need to win your bet is for the team win, or just make it to overtime, even if they lose in overtime?

Thanks. I thought that maybe... however... if you bet +0.5 does that mean that if the team loses in overtime... you still win your bet because they did not lose in regulation?

Ö I understand that your bet is split on either number... but i guess i need help understanding what they specifically mean. So for instance, if you picked say nyr -0.5 and -1.0, and the odds were 2.000, and you laid a $20 wager, how does that work out? Obviously if they win by 2 or more goals you win the whole bet and double your money, but how does it work when thats your wager, and they win by one goal in regulation, or... if they win the game in overtime?
Also... how would it work if you bet the same thing except it was +0.5 and +1.0? I just cant quite wrap my head around it... and would really appreciate if someone can help it. |

You are the definition of a troll.. I made it abundantly clear I am done betting with nhl until after new years and it was pretty clear to anyone that is not an idiot savant that this was a playful poke at another member of the site regarding his team. If you want to talk crap and continuously be ignorant then please do myself and everyone a favour and post your daily picks for a season and let's see how you do, then at least you will just be ignorant and not a complete coward as wellI have never felt more opposite of one persons picks, as this guy. Its hillarious. Ummm theres no need for name calling. First of all... I have personally only seen you post picks maybe 10. And have simply noticed that you tend to pick opposite of me. How is that insulting you? Please explain... because you are accusing me of something ive never done. I may have critisised your picks once or twice... but i do not come on this site to critisize. Also... when did i come on herd saying hkw great i was?? Cause once again, your accusing me of something ive never done. When have people offered for me to post my picks? I had done that on my own, and explained afterwards that everytime i post my picks, i lose, therefore i dont tent to post, or even talk about my picks at all. As far as this post goes... read my first post. I said its funny how opposite that we pick. Period. Does that hurt your feelings? I dont get why you have to call me names. As for your original post.. which is it... a sarcastic joke, or you really liked the jets to win?? Cause what it looks like.. to everyone .. is you picked the jets, whether you wagered on them or not is sorta irrelevant... you said the jets were golden and gonna win. Then they got beat deciscevely and all of a sudden you claim its a joke?? I may not post my picks on here, but i dont run around critizing peopld like you claim, and i dont brag and gloat like you claim, and i certianly dont go around making bold prediction posts for all of covers to read, and then turn around and claim it was a joke when youre wrong. Youre just mad at me cause im the one that called you out. |

If everytime a certian person posts a play they really like... and everytime they do you notice its the exact opposite of what you really like as a pick, would you not find that sorta funny and interesting? Besides, to be honest this guy says stuff that deserves critisism, even though i wasnt critisizing him. This very post for example... he starts by saying winnipeg is golden tonight... they are gonna win.. etc. Then... when they get hammered, and a few people call him out on a bad call... he then turns around and tries to say his original post was a joke?? Classic playing both sides.. creating a win/win scenario for himself. You really think had the score been reversed, that he would have claimed his pick to be a joke? Not a prayer in hell... what would have happened is everyone would have posted 'nice pick man!' And he would have said thank you. Theres no integrety in that. |

I did a quick count and so far this month about half of the games have gone to overtime. Was considering a 2 or 3 team parlay with 2 or 3 OT plays... just wondering what game tonight others think will go to OT?

To me, there is a clear cut most overrated player, and most underrated player in the NHL. I was curious how many of you agree with me, so if your curious about others opinions on this message your vote for both players. ill post mine, i just wanted to hear others picks first a bit to not influence the first few posters.

Personally i have noticed a trend in the opening lines. When you see a team that should generally be a big dog, that is set at something very close to even, I find that the previously assumed dog wins. Games that this recently happened with was mtl @ clb , and last night mtl @ car , and nyr @ clb.

This year IS different. For many reasons. Coach, goalie, backup goalie, larsson, lucic, kassian, a young team more mature, and of course their new superstar star captain who looks like he may be the most prolific scorer for the next ten years. |

Just cause they lost 4 in a row doesnt mean they are playing awfull. Two of those 4 loses came to two of the very best teams in the league. Their first of four losses came to pittsburg, whos fourth overall in the whole league right now, and i think most people would put as one of the top three teams in the league period. That game they were only outshot by 3 shots. Their last three games they outshot each of their opponents, averaging 28 shots against, and 39 shots for. Awfull teams do not get 40 shots a game. And one of those three games was against #2 in the league nyr. Look deeper than just L-L-L-L.
