Seattle took Game 1 of this series 6-1, and eight of nine players in the starting lineup chipped in with at least one hit. The Mariners are four games back of Houston in the AL West and fighting for their lives in the wildcard race, but they are still just 35-44 on the road this season. Houston is 3-2 during this home stand, putting 31 runs on the board vs. the M’s and Angels. The Astros are a top 10 team in all key offensive metrics and 25-17 (60%) at home since 2022 when coming off a loss by four or more runs. Left-hander Framber Valdez takes the mound today, and he’s allowed just two earned runs in his past four outings (27.1 innings pitched). Seattle hits .213 vs. lefties this year, and they’re 1-4 in their past five road games as an underdog vs. a southpaw. I like Houston to strike back. Take the Astros. |

The Boston Red Sox are sitting at .500 for the season and would like to finish at or better than .500. It has been a mixed bag this season for Boston. They started slow, got hot for a while, and then settled in as a .500 team. Tanner Houck is more promising than his record this season, but like Boston, he had his ups and downs on the mound. Houck went through a stretch where Boston won nine of ten of his starts but also went through a stretch that saw Boston seven straight off his starts. It has been a tale of hot and cold for Houck, but he has been on the hot side since winning two of three. The Jays are in the basement of the AL East and playing young players to see what can help them next year. They won't help them today, and I like Boston in this one. |

Minnesota won the opener of this series, 4-2, and these two were rained out yesterday so they're playing a doubleheader today. Minnesota carries a 3-1 edge in the season series. The Twins offense is 10th in runs scored, on-base percentage, and slugging. The defense is fifth in fielding percentage. Boston is 29th in fielding percentage with a relief staff that is 25th in ERA (4.52). The Red Sox have faded down the stretch, on a 9-18 run. The Red Sox have also lost their last six Sunday get-away games, so back the visitors. Play Minnesota. |

San Francisco is on a 4-6 run and plays its fifth straight on the road. The offense is 20th in slugging and 28th in steals. The defense is 18th in fielding percentage and the pitching staff is 18th in ERA and 22nd in WHIP. Landen Roupp walks too many batters (21 in 41+ innings), including 11 free passes in 12+ innings on the road. He'll go 4-to-5 innings and the bullpen is 16th in ERA (4.00) and 21st in WHIP. Kansas City's pitching is 11th in ERA (3.83) while the defense is 10th in fielding percentage. The offense is ninth in runs and 12th in slugging. The Royals are very good at home (45-34) and their +97 run differential is second-best in the AL behind the Yankees. Brady Singer has a 2.90 ERA at home where he's holding batters to a .230 average. The Royals have won eight of Singer's last nine starts against the NL West. Play Kansas City. |

The NY Yankees have gotten healthy, and it has shown as they have opened up a four-game lead on Baltimore with just nine games to play. They will go into Oakland with a rotation set up to do so. They will have their three top pitchers on the mound for this series in Gil, Cole, and Rodon. The bats have come back to life for the Yankees and the pitching has been solid. The Yankees staff has allowed 4 or fewer runs in 11 of their last 13 games. I think the A's are in for a tough series, as the Yanks have their rotation set up to sweep and put away the AL East. Make the play on the NY Yankees. |

@LakeTahoeKid Bookmakers Love baiting bettors into taking the favorite even if the team with a better record was resting their players no way the dream was gonna win that when they have nothing to play for. |
