Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) disciplinary sub committee had handed out a three week suspension to Wales international Martyn Williams which sees the flanker suspended until the 14th of January.
He will be available again for selection for the Blues Heineken Cup match against Bourgoin on the 20th of January.
Williams was sent off the field when playing for Cardiff against the Ospreys in a Magners Leaguer match on Saturday, allegedly for head-butting Jason Spice, the Ospreys' scrumhalf.
“It was the first time I’ve been shown the red card in 12 seasons of playing rugby at senior level," Martyn Williams said, speaking after the hearing.
"Consequently I feel it was out of character and obviously I regret the incident.
"I’d like to apologise to all concerned. I was disappointed with my reaction in the match but I fully accept the findings of the disciplinary sub committee.”
