Very lenient I believe. He will miss just this World Cup and a bit of Liverpool football. What kind of message does this send out to the world community after a third confirmed biting incident? Weak as pi..ss FIFA. What will he get after a 4th bite? An expenses paid trip to the moon for 8 months? I mean come on.

BBC- 'Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has been suspended from all football-related activity for four months..... It means he will miss the first nine games of the Premier League season.' Uruguay have three days to appeal against the decision.
Me: What does this mean for the Colombia - Uruguay match? Because the third day includes Saturday.

I'd be very surprised if they appeal this. His team and lawyers/support staff have enough egg on their faces as is. They should let this one go and take the slap. It's very lenient.

It's difficult to determine what's fair, since there really is no precedent for this type of behavior.
He'll miss the World Cup, plus some matches in whatever the next competition Uruguay plays in. Not sure if that means any competition, or just WCQ. Plus he'll miss several weeks in the EPL and he'll miss some of their first Champion's League matches.
The guy needs psychiatric help, that's for sure.

Honestly, I'm just happy they did ANYTHING!

If he plays against Colombia and Uruguay win and he has a part in it, I regret to inform you there will most likely be mass riots here. Even when Colombia wins, they have had problems which is why they have brought in major 'alcohol' restrictions when Colombia plays.

What annoyed me the most was the fact that he wasn't even booked!
I had Uruguay so I wasn't too put out, but I can understand the fury of the Italians still arguing with the ref as Uruguay scored the goal. The bite marks were very prevalent in the photos, yet the incident occured away from the ball and it would have been nearly impossible for the ref to have seen an actual bite occur since it was nearly impossible to see it with the naked eye viewing it on tv, even in slow motion. Retrospective action was ta least taken. But still the Italians were very unfortunate in that game. Although i believe there red card was justified, studs up towards the knee.

I will not comment on Marchisio's red card, but we are definitely still angry so like you said, imagine how furious the players still were less than 2 minutes after this unbelievable event occurred...it was impossible for the players to focus and that is exactly when Uruguay took advantage of the situation and scored the goal. Suarez should have been red carded and the game would have ended in a draw since our midfield was still in very good shape.

Dude. I did read the thread. I'm referring to the NINE Uruguay matches he has to miss, which obviously will extend past the 4 month ban from all football. I wasn't sure exactly what matches that ban covered.
Here is the official statement regarding those matches, which I assume to mean just World Cup related (including qualifying), but I could be wrong:
The player Luis Suárez is to be suspended for nine (9) official matches. The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming FIFA World Cup™ fixture between Colombia and Uruguay on 28 June 2014. The remaining match suspensions shall be served in Uruguay’s next FIFA World Cup match(es), as long as the team qualifies, and/or in the representative team’s subsequent official matches in accordance with art. 38 par. 2a) of the FDC.

Which is quite unbelievable since Suarez deserved a straight red. I hope this Mexican referee is never selected again for a World Cup. I will not elaborate too much on this, but IMO there should be more referees from Europe at the World Cup since these referees have more experience working games where the stakes are higher.

I think he appeals. For one, it seems he is in denial about his behavior issues on the pitch. Secondly, I bet Liverpool encourages him to appeal in an attempt to lessen the time he'll miss for them.
That's just what my gut tells me.
