Monaco vs Juventus ......Open discussion Forum

Question

I see a lot of great soccer minds present in the forum today, so i would love to hear some POSITIVE input on tomorrows game. I have a bit of a biased position since i have been a bit of a Juve fan since Karl Heinz Rumminege joined them after the 82 World Cup. Platini was also signed, as well as my favorite polish player at the time, Boniek. I will be vacationing in Italy the day of the final, so i would love to tip a few Beers with my sons and watch the game locally in Albarella, Italy. All that biased said, i havent really convinced myself that Juventus will win tomorrow.....My 2 cents to get the ball rolling........

A Barca team with Messi , Neymar , Suarez , Busquets , Iniesta, .....NEEDED to score at home against Juventus and managed only 1 shot on goal.

I really love to watch Monaco play, its a high octane, free flowing game that focuses on a constant attack mode. The pieces are all fitting together beautifully. They have Falcao, the veteran of " How to score goals 101 " teaching the 18 year old sensation how its done. Mbappe is ALL that is advertised. I would love to be this kids agent...WOW, so much potential. Speed, skill, and most of all....SIZE. This kid bullies people for the ball. I have a hard time with the 1st part though. That group of Barca players is about as good as it gets....NADA. Cant get beyond that part.

Would love to hear some thoughts from others here......Lets talk

Forgot to mention.......10 minutes after the draw for this Semi Final Round was drawn by FIFA,  Badlands came into my thread and said " Monaco will score on the Old Lady ".  I think he may be right here.....BTTS ? Over ?

Since you&#x27;ve read my thread, you&#x27;ve pretty much read why I&#x27;m on Monaco. The price is just too good to skip for me.Monaco is a monster scoring machine netting 95 goals in 35 Ligue 1 games. Yes, Juventus has an incredible good defense but it&#x27;s going to have a hard time against Monaco since they can play both physical and short passing a way through. Whereas Barcalona for example didn&#x27;t have the ability to try it physically. It&#x27;s going to be non-stop attacking pressure for Monaco and I can really see winning this fixture. I&#x27;d love to go deeper into this but I&#x27;m short on time tonight.Would like to see other inputs too.

I think Juve are designed perfectly to offset all of Monaco&#x27;s strengths. Monaco is a terrifying counter attacking team, but Juve is fine to not throw numbers forward. I like Juve to advance here

No earth shattering insight from me. Monaco has been a lot of fun in the league and CL. They come out fast and tend to surprise the opponent, they do tire in the 2nd half though. I imagine they will play as usual and Juve could exploit that. BTS seems likely, I don&#x27;t know how Juve would hold them to 0-1 for 90 mins....1-1 or 2-1 be my uneducated guess.

True dat. Defense wins championships but man does Monaco have the momentum right now. La vecchia signora is the best D, the class of the tourney (if that&#x27;s possible) and matches up better against Monaco then Dortmund. But how do either Mbappe or Falcao not score a goal tomorrow? BTS seems like a wise bet.

Good thread Fraz. you guys have been following these teams longer than I have but I will still share thoughts.

Barca seemed to fall apart in that game and lost composure. Neymar turned into the cry baby he is and two yellow cards at the end of the first half were signs things were going well. From what I recall Barca looked like they were kicking field goals. Juventus did a great job frustrating them playing them aggressively and recorded 19 fouls. If that game would have been played first at Canp Nu I suspect things would have gone differently for Barca. Being down 3-0 and just getting pushed around got Barca off track.

Tomorrow things are different. Game 1 0-0. Monaco is extremely good at home. If they can get a home goal which they have in every CL game, total of 18 home goals and average of 2.57 it could change the way Juventus plays. I don't think they can just sit back at let Monaco continue to attack and hope for the counter. I do like the over cause Juventus is going to want that away goal. 2-1

Also I think public opinion thinks Dortmund should be here and that the bus incident has a lot to do with Monaco "sneaking in" undeservedly.

So there is probably some extra line value just on that. I took Monaco to win it all +$800/9.00, worth a shot.

Tomorrow, so far I like BTS.If Franz takes the Over I'll play that too.

I was hoping that the books would have the first half TT of o1 again for Monaco - I've cashed that in every elimination game they've played so far.

I didn't have a great feel for the game today, and don't have a great look tomorrow either though as DH noted - Monaco is a scoring machine, and they are fast!

This is going to be the most talented and prolific scoring sides that Juve has faced all year - they are only 2nd to Barça in scoring and have scored at least two in every elimination game so far, and have failed to score 2 at home twice this year - once in the CL vs. Leverkusen and once in the league to Lyon. They've scored at least 2 goals in 7 of 10 CL matches but one of them was a meaningless game for them vs. Leverkusen

They have 57 goals in 17 home league matches, 16 goals in 7 home CL matches, 15 in 5 home Cup games bringing their total to 88 goals in 29 home matches across all competitions at home.

Over 1.5 goals at +170 is great value imo.

I am replying to your above info: today I went 4/4 Took 100 on Madrid first half 100 on second half over 1. 1/4 goals and I Took 200 on real to win!
I haven't seen tomorrow's lines yet but what I will tell you is juventude Will win either 2-1 or 2-0
Monaco is a great high octane team but nomin e has faced a better defense then juventus and in my opinion juventus and Buffon will get their first champions league with Buffon as goalie! The front 4 of mandzu, Dyabla, GH, and Cuadrado poise a huge threat to Monaco defense and will play like they did against Porto where they will strike when we all least expect it! Juventus knows how dangerous Monaco is and will play counter football to make sure they don't get beaten like Dortmund, and Mancity did!
MGPEE, Falcoa and the center midfield of Monaco is the best I. The business I just don't see Juventus alllowing them to get beat! Juventus was my pick from the beginning of the CL and unless Gareth Bale plays in the final I can't see them losing. They have all the ingredients to win it all and love to play on opponents mistakes! I see them favored by one goal tomorrow and If it's less then -1 I would take juventus for sure! Monaco again can surprise us like they have all year and are a top 5 team, juts can't bet against the best defense in Football this year and defense wins championships and it's their year this year to win it all unless a major injury is recorded!

Some great stuff guys. Hard to argue with the comparisons being made to Barca and Monaco. Barca attempts to methodically pick you apart while Monaco use speed and size to run directly at you.

I would say that BTTS is my first thought, but 1.70 isnt that tempting. Its either Over 2.5 @ even money or i pass her and hope for an in game option. Ideally, Monaco would be a better price at home and i could sneak in with a DNB or Pk at a decent price ( 1.70 - 1.75 range now )

I like Monaco 0.0 - &#x2B;0.5 @ 1.87Monaco knows they have to win this game to have a chance at qualifying. I think Juventus will have a defensive strategy, but Monaco is good enough to crack through it a couple times. Monaco is way more physical than Barca, and Juventus&#x27; defense vs a physical Atalanta struggled the other day, giving up 2 goals. And Monaco&#x27;s offense is significantly more talented than Atalanta&#x27;s

LNU good point about Atalanta - that team tried to give Juve the full 3 points by playing for 1 point and then scored that late equalizer on some weird deflection after they started trying to score again.

I don't understand why managers and coaches stop playing in the manner that gave them the lead so they can protect a lead that they lose by trying not to lose.

Mate, Gareth Bale in the final would be an advantage for whoever was playing against him. I can count on one hand the amount of times he did well for Madrid!

As for this game, I unfortunately don't see Monaco having much of a chance. Seems as if I'm the minority here. As was already said, the world's best attacking trio couldn't break down this defense. Neither of the two goals allowed by Juve in CL came from Forwards. One was a defender and the other a midfielder. They were also off set pieces which leads me to believe that Monaco won't be scoring from open play unless they catch a rare opening in this brick wall. To beat this Juve team, I think the midfield has to be impeccable and provide an attacking spark that forces the defense to open up gaps for the forwards to get in behind. Which is where I thought Barcelona slacked. Messi was forced to drop back to give that spark leaving the two crybabies up top that couldn't handle the physicality of the Juve defense. In order for Monaco to have a chance here, I think its going to have to be more than just Mbappe and Falcao.

I'll be big on Juve ML and 1st Half ML as I think Monaco comes out all guns blazing which allows for Juve to get in behind early then park the bus as they'll have the away goal they need.

If you are going to use this rational of comparing how Juve played Atlanta in a regular season game that really didn&#x27;t have tons of meaning then let&#x27;s take a look at Monaco&#x27;s last two contests vs PSG , both with the last month. They were absolutely DRUMMED 4-1 at home by PSG, and then turned around and got absolutely embarrassed 5-0 at PSG. Juve plays in a significantly more challenging league week in and week out vs the top clubs in Italy. France has PSG &amp; Lyon that are of any real quality. Monaco defensively can be scored on and scored on a lot. They are outstanding offensively and yes they have the size and physicality, but they got lucky to catch a very worn-down and injured Dortmund side, along with the bomb incident that absolutely had a dramatic impact on leg one. Juve hasn&#x27;t conceded a goal on the road or at home in the round of 16 against Porto, then again in the Quarters vs only the mighty Barcelona. Juve is absolutely the most complete team in all Europe and the best team in this competition since it started. They may concede one tomorrow but they will not lose this game. Monaco may know they have to win but they will leave themselves exposed and Juve will punish them. The experience factor as well is extremely important here. Juve has conceded two goals all competition as well. I&#x27;m playing Juve on the PK (-135) just so a draw doesn&#x27;t end me, but I see 2 possibly 3-1 Juventus.

As many have said, Juve is the best defensive team by a wide margin in this competition, but they aren&#x27;t any slouch offensively to say the least. They have scored 70 goals while allowing 22 in Serie A. Only Napoli with 78 and Roma with 75 have scored more, but both have conceded 10 &amp; 15 more than Juve. Man City who I personally think is a marginal side this season buried 5 on them, sure they won @ home 3-1 but City isn&#x27;t even in the same league as Juve. How Juventus ran through Barcelona was the most impressive result of this tournament especially after seeing Barca go to the Bernebau and beat Real 3-2 who just punched their ticket to this competition final. Porto had not been beat at home once domestically, and had scored 40 while conceding 8 at home and Juve ran through them as well. With all this said - I just do not think it&#x27;s wise to bet against the best team in the world who hasn&#x27;t lost a match all competition.

After a good night&#x27;s sleep I want to switch my prediction to 1-2 instead of 2-1. Juve&#x27;s defense gets highlighted, but they have certainly found the net as well. If Monaco show any type of naivet&#xE9; it will be mercilessly exploited by the much more experienced old bag. A Juve win would be fun.
