DTP, if ur reading this. wanted to mention last night but no time had started this earlier in week.
DTP, i know Ganda gave mention the other week in my thread along with a few others (yoro??) anyways, an interesting topic, at least a "hot" one this year; buddy asked last week if think not having fans is worth 'goals' for/against home sides. Personally, I dont think you can compute this into anything statistical. passes still have ot be made, shots/converted etc etc. having support does NOT affect that, thats ALL on the players themselves. but where not having fans really hurt is the 'motivation' side of things. SPECIFICALLY ball pursuit and agression. this was clearly evident last night with two matches in particular (Shakhtar/Monch & Atalanta/Pool). when the visiting teams scored, it was pretty noticeable. Ukranians simply looked like they stopped playing; ditto Atalanta. Of course, this helps NOBODY pre-game as it is things which happen after the whistle blows. but a buddy dropped this stat in my lap other day which puts some 'validity' into that thought above others have mentioned. dont like talking about stuff when theres nothing to back it up with; many times you see people simply 'making up' stuff simply to support whatever it is in their melons so they can make plays. you know, I rarely -if ever- wager "in-game", just not my thing. but perhaps for those whom do, this might be something worth the while to look at & take it for whatever you might think its worth. (or simply toss into the trash). again, this is just a "small" sample thus far and only pertains to the europe comps (im actually starting to wonder if this hold true domestically as well)
almost halfway through the group stages and the home sides whom have conceded the first goal have went on to LOSE 16 of the 24 matches (3W-5D-16L). doesnt sound like rocket science, but losses are higher than last year, but & the amount of comebacks (aka wins & draws).... it just isnt there. as a comparison, last year there was double digit home wins from clubs whom came from behind after conceding first, the year prior it was in the high teens. (Manchester City are the only club this year whom came back from am early home deficit to win their game, Porto). ***EDIT*** add Leipzig & Seville from last night **** obviously its not THE reason but im fairly certain its a big contributing factor not having maniacal supporters around urging you on. and since empty stadiums are the biggest difference from previous years and that drop-off in home wins is considerably lower this season. stats back it up & not simply talking for the sake of it. Im CLUELESS in regards to how this affect prices in-game for the simple reason of not following that kind of stuff. so take this for whatever its worth.
(FYI, the UEL its even worse: 0W-3D-15L. and tho I havent validated (I trust him), there have been 8 home teams already whom have scored first yet STILL lost. which am told is also abnormally high)
with Intl break coming will take a break as well, I might even take a peek and see if this is similar in Serie A and other domestics. starting to wonder a little about this myself.
UEL (here we go again)

Roma/Cluj - tied for first. I guess the "bigger" news out of this one is the Romanian side whoms coach - whom is already suspended for the match - announced he will resign afterwards - judging from the reports, has apparently mentally "checked out" (this is actually quite frequent within the coaching ranks). so im clueless how their players going to react. Cluj hasnt been playing all too badly either lately either. and theyve held their own on the road in europe. last year played bunch of Power 5 clubs: beat Rennes, lost to Lazio 0-1, and draw in Seville, beat Swedish champs as well. they even beat that Bulgarian side (Sofia) 2-0 on the road; the same team Roma just played to a scoreless 0-0 clunker with here last week. For Roma, Fonseca -as always - will rotate. Dzeko getting rested, his priority has always been Serie A, but the skill difference isnt as steep as you might expect. I dont have stats on it, just dont like it when hearing HC announcing they are quitting and Im not in that locker room but stuff like this never seems to go well in Italy so I'll take small play on Roma -1.5 @+115
Milan/Lille - so, does that Ligue I "fade on the road" thing work in the UEL too? I dont care, stupidly put self in FRONT of Milans 'train' last week and got run over. can hoenstly say that Ive seen a few matches already this year where they had no business winning (or even getting a point for that matter), but they did. 3-in-7's, empty stadiums, Zlat/no-Zlat (h*ll, sometimes no front line too), rotating, quarantines, red cards, everything... and its now 28 straight unbeaten. experience has taught me to RIDE trains, and the h*ll with capping. this might or might not hit, but Im not going against them, personally, I think they need a few losses or else this streak becomes too big of a distraction in the meantime. Milan -1 @+135
Rijeka/Napoli - Napoli makes the short trip across the Adriatic. Gattuso rotating; Insigne already out along with Oshimen; & Mertens pulling a disappearing act the past month. need him to get his head out of his butt. prices are cr*p but should be a fairly straightforward 'w' here but avoiding the juiced HC tho; these guys lost to AZ's 2nd squad at home and then come back around and beat a decent Liga side in Spain. good luck trying to figure out which version youll see tomorrow. (wait for lineups) Ludgorets/Tottenham - buddy told me Mou went on a rant last week after their loss @home & tho Ludgorets are a pretty decent mid-level squad its hard seeing Spurs dropping pts here as his clubs always seem to react after his volcanic eruptions. havent confirmed anything yet but might take a stab at the 1st half as Mou might send out regulars and use the 5 subs later. ***EDIT looks like Kane/Bale both in there **** Tott -1 @+135 (1st half)
Rapid Wien/Dundalk - this one could get ugly. Rapid -1.5 @-120, Rapid to win + over 2.5 @-130
Slavia Praha/Nice - this line scares me, because my melon thinks it should be juiced. never mind another Ligue I squad on road. but the Czech league is still in suspension & Slavia has basically been prepping all week for this. they just beat a decent Leverkusen squad here last week (the same team whom thumped Nice 6-2). and Nice has a "biggie" domestically with Monaco on the weekend. no major Covid missings for the hosts so why isnt this juiced? scr*w it, Slavia to win @+112 and since its a Ligue I squad, I'll toss some on the goals in both halves again @-115
Omonia/Granada - got to ride the Liga sides in this thing at these prices, too big of a skill discrepency. Granada to win @-115, goal in both halves @+104
might add 1 for the late matches, need to confirm lineups

Slavia line does not make sense at all??? They are missing 5-6 regulars today due covid and there line is dropping like crazy in the last half hour? I know Nice isnt known for their great away record but no way they deserve odds around 4 against a wounded slavia side.. this could easily end up in a 1-1 draw or a sneaky away win imo.
Plays tonight : PSV draw no bet and both to score.
Sociedad to win probably over 2.5 goals aswell.
Red star belgrado is a banker for me. They are really solid at home also in Europe. Gent is just awfull lately and poor travellers.
I’m on Cluj double chance in the first half. Roma resting Dzeko and co asusual.

Senk, you sure about Slavia? i checked abt an hour ago and didnt see any important missings. but not denying your comment, line movement is making your comments valid. we'l see how it turns out. Darth Vader (Roma) has been a thorn in my butt this year. GL tonight

Starting eleven of Slavia without atleast 6 regulars. Strikers Tecl and Musa, midfielders provod, stanciu and 2 of their best defenders Kudela and Bonl. Let’s see what happens. Line movement is really weird. Goodluck all!

Spec. Thanks so much for your posts. I have learned more about soccer/football from reading your posts than watching games or reading materials by far. I have a daughter who plays and got a full ride to Furman university (a highly competitive smaller D1 school in the Us) and a son who currently plays in club/highschool. I knew nothing about the sport since I only played the typical american sports (my number one was baseball). Once my kids picked up soccer, I became hooked through them. It has become my favorite sport to watch now. Many of my friends make fun of me as I get more excited about a Bayern match (my son’s favorite team) or a Chelsea match (my favorite squad) or any high profile match (ucl, World Cup, euro, etc) than I do american football now. Anyway. I still understand so little about the game but I LOVE watching. And your posts have educated me a ton on some of the particulars (especially when it comes to the European leagues, players, coaches, history). I really appreciate that you take the time to post your thoughts and ideas and not just post picks. Thanks so much. Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll ever understand it enough to come up with my own sharp angles to bet games. My own way to play games is to put 3-4 matches into round robins and play all draws. I have actually won more than I ever would have thought by doing this. But it’s pure luck. I don’t have any real idea. I just do a quick scan of the teams records and recent form, goals against and goals for, just basic data. And then I throw a handful of games into 4 team round robins and do 6 2 team parlays for low cost bets with really high payouts. Basically if one match draws, I pretty much always make money. If two or even three draw, I take home like 5-6-7-8 times the original bet. Been doing this for years. Has worked really well. Sorry for the blathering and kissing ass but I do appreciate your wisdom and insight. Thanks my man!!!

Accidentally turned off my alarm clock and did not wake up in time to see your post or even put in any bets for Shitropa , might be a good thing as this always kicks my butt. However you're looking rock steady here during HT. Keep up the great work and BOL.
Really liking Milan. When I first saw the draw I thought the exact same thing. Milan or nothing, do not overthing.

Also like Leicester again. At -175 not a ton of value but still think they'll win. Other than Vardy not starting they have close to a first choice squad. They appear to be taking this competition seriously as last week Rodgers started a better lineup in "shitropa" than he did vs arsenal at the weekend. (won both) dont know enough about braga to advise a win by 2. . Leicester at around 15-1 is a worthy bet to win this competition

dream, got Wolfs in a parlay. CSKA? pass. jwhite, appreciate it. as most things in life, getting/becoming better at ANYTHING comes with experience. didnt just start out this way. lot of bumps and bruises and chunk-blowing sessions happened many moons ago. and just like any other sport, things are easier to find once you know what to look for. still doesnt guarantee anything. anyways, appreciate it. and best of luck for yourself and fam. nice to hear your kids growing into the sport
Laff, i think i just swept the early card baby, as mentioend above.... it hasnt mattered whom Milan has out there. that mojo......
Napoli stinking up the place again, glad I backed off. and w/out any sense of exaggeration, already got the halftime play but if Tott could shoot straight theyd be up 7-1 instead.
Arsenal/Molde - looks like Gunnors sending out their "kiddie squad" up front again (I dont see Aub or Lac anywhere in projected lineups). but this should be a fun one for them to play, Molde only plays one way, full throttle forward. dont think this is going to be a cakewalk as much as the lines suggesting. there should be a bunch of chances in this one, regardless whom is playing. over 3.5 @+112
Young Boys/Sofia over 1.5 @+150 (1st half)
these Austrian clubs, all of them have that high press/attack minded approach. make a parlay out of it. Dinamo/Wolf + Antwerp/LASK over 2.5 @+207
