This one comes down to form. I expect the Belgium side Standard Liege to dominate this game and it is quite likely they may net 3 themselves in this one. However, I can’t underestimate their opponent either who has done well themselves to score goals.
Standard Liege is in good goal scoring form, scoring 9 goals in their last 3 games including 4 goals in their last outing. They have scored at least 2 goals in 4 of their 5 league games and are without a loss in those games. As mentioned, their last game was a 4-2 domestic league win. They also scored 7 goals in their last 3 Europa qualifying games, including 2 goals twice and 3 goals in the other. They have also scored at least 2 goals in their 5 qualifying playoff Europa games to get to this group stage with over 2.5 going 4-1. Standard has won 5 straight games with a two goal margin of victory.
Esbjerg has also been in good goal scoring form, disposing of St. Etienne in their Europa qualifying tie by an aggregate of 5-3 but that one was pretty much done when they won 4-3 away from home in the first leg so they rested players and played keep away in the return leg. On the domestic front they have scored in each of their games but have conceded in all of them as well failing to keep a clean sheet. Their last 2 domestic games ended 1-1 but the three prior ended in a 3-2 and 3-1 losses.
