Its because in the Champions League at this point it is a two leg series. Meaning Arsenal went to Porto and went down 1 nil in the game so Porto is up 1 nil in the aggregate score coming into this match. When Arsenal scored all they did was even up the aggregate. So now it is 1-1 technically and we play on.

 This phase is 2 legs. Porto won last week 1-0, so since Arsenal won 1-0 after regular time today, they go to extra time and then PKs if Arsenal is still up 1 to see who advances.

Pure curiosity I have gone back and checked on this match. Not one shot on goal the entire extra time. Again WTF is the plan here. They really want to get to a penalty kick shootout. That was the plan? Someone help me understand it.

Yep Arsenal ends up stretching this match all the way to a penalty shootout. Will be interesting I guess to see who advances but really don't understand this management at all. Seems like this is the same as a coin toss to see who advances.

Well maybe ole boy Arteta knew what he was doing after all. Arsenal dominated the penalty kicks and easily advanced. Just seems an odd game plan. Payed off I guess. Arsenal moves on.

Can someone look at the Always Ready stats for 1st half and offer a concise explication as to why it's still 0-0?
