Monday was surely a day where lessons are learned. Football is still football where an upset or two do happens. I'm reevaluating my cards for Tuesday as I have the faves lined up till the Group matches are over. It's indeed a lazy thing in my part but what the heck, it worked for two days anyway. Okay, I'll try gathering as much facts on games as I can. If you guys have anything to add, even insights is pretty much appreciated. Do feel free to post. I'm posting my play after a few while.

are a fit el nino and david villa will be a handful for a top defense but I think they should have plently of opportunites against the Russians.. The Russian Goalie is very good, but I think after a while he might let one slip up or the Spaniards get a good oportunity..

Why Spain won't win Spain looks to choke in these stages. After numerous trips to big games they often fall short and thus would sometimes be branded as "underachievers". They have been without a major title since 1964. Coach Luis Aragones seem to yet dig out the best of his players and use it to his disposal. Russia has less pressure coming into this game and so Russia's coach Guus Hiddink is looking to orchestrate a possible upset.
Why Russia won't win
The 2 game suspension of their star man - Andrei Arshavin will be felt as a great loss for Russia. Without the St. Zenit scorer, the Russian team will have to rely on Pavel Pogrebnyak who proved his worth as a top scorer in this season's Uefa cup. Russia's prime strenght comes from scoring, and with the Spaniards rock-solid defenders they'd have to put in twice as much effort to jam a goal behind Casillas. If Spain can manage to contain their strikes, this game will be over as soon as a spanish goal gets in.

Russia's 3-5-2 formation has been working for them pretty well. I'll be posting my leans later on and Spain's definitely one of them. I've watched a couple of the recent Russia games and I must say that they seem to look a bit undermatched coming into this game without their captain Arshavin. Spain looks good in their last 6 games together and I believe their defense looks a lot better than they were in World Cup (okay, I can feel a lot of you guys not agreeing on this, blast away). I think the best play for this game is the under 2.5. Goodluck with Spain though, as I'm also leaning on the same way.

I believe so. Spain looks like they're on a mission (like most teams are). Looking at their last 6 games, I think the under would be well on its way. Russia should've had made adjustments with their captain suspended but I have high regards with Spain's defense line at the moment. I doubt they'd allow the high scoring team such as Russia to roll today.

Goodluck man. I see a lot of potential in Russia. I think a great downfall for a lot of cappers is their familiarization to a certain team. This in turn grows into bias which would most likely push them to back their favorite team. As much as I'd want to back Russia, their chances of winning looks pretty slim when they are the dogs. The Spaniards has well went and covered all 6 games when they were set as favorites. I think the best bet for tonight would be the totals. Looks like the UNDER will cash in today.

I think I'd play the UNDER. Spain has a pretty good group with Greece, Sweden and Russia in it. With how they are doing now I think a max of 2 goals per game will be scored by the Spaniards. They've managed to get Sweden by 3 in their last meeting but I'm pretty sure it won't happen again in Football. Under for me man, but that's just my gut feel. I am still surprised at Italy allowing 3 goals from Holand.

Junior, it sure looks to me like you've copied and pasted this stuff from some pre-Euro 2008 preview. Pavel Progrebnyak injured his knee May 28th against Serbia and was replaced on the roster.
I don't much stock in someone's handicapping when their info is a) copied without reference from another source, and b) incorrect.

Yup, Arshavin and Pogrebnyak are both out and are Russia's top scoring threats. Russia plays very well as a team though and their strength lies in them playing as one and not in certain feet of certain players. However their main thing was scoring, they are an offensive minded team when those guys are in the game.
With Spains tight defense, their all around talent, their 16 consecutive match wins (not without losing, wins) and 5 consecutive games without scoring more than one goal and also not giving up a goal I believe. All signs point to under and Spain. Which is where all the money will be. I like the under.
