NFL Week 1 Survivor Pool Discussion

Anyone else in a Survivor pool this year? I'm doing one where once you choose a team one week, you can never choose them again. Looking for feedback on who is the best team to have this week in people's opinions.

I am likely leaning between Cleveland (I just can't imagine a rookie QB like Dalton winning his first NFL start in a road game, although CLE scares me for some reason) and Houston (if they can't beat INDY in this spot then shame on them). Any other team I should consider? Who would you take, CLE or HOU?

Houston here in mine brother. My other candidates were the Chiefs (not sure with Cassel's status), Chargers (notorius for slow starts though), and the Cardinals (same deal with Newton, first true NFL start on the road)...

I'm hoping everyone picks the Patriots, that game will be a lot tougher than what people think, Tom Brady struggles down in Miami, where he's 4-5...

Be careful with CLE, it's a division game and even though Dalton is a rookie look at the coaching staff M lewis has been there for a while with the same scheme. CLE while getting alot of hype have a new coach new offense and C mcCoy only started about 6 or 7 games so he's almost a rookie! while the browns may win I'm all over the bengals+6.5. I don't post much but i'm about to start. I've been following alot of ya"ll, u included especially in th NBA. Good luck as im in a survivor pool also but i won"t touch the browns

Between the two I take Clev,  but I took Arizona in mine.  Reason being.  I'll probably not have another chance to take them this year.  I think Clev will have another shot or two this year to use them.

I'm on Zona myself...saving Houston for a later pick. Originally had CLE but have no confidence in them until I see them play. KC would prob be another strong pic.

The Bills will beat KC

The Dolphins will beat the Pats

I'm a bit skeptical about ARZ. I think CAR could surprise. There are way too many unknowns on CAR, which could result in them being better than we think. ARZ isn't a contendor simply by getting Kolb.

I like both HOU and CLE to win. The better one is probably HOU. How is HOU going to lose (at home) to a Manning-less IND squad. IND couldn't' run the ball before with the threat of Manning. Now, they have less ability to run plus a much worse QB

CLEVE is hrrible in 1st game of year and home openers also 

 

10 were played at home 2-9 ATS  and 1-10  S/U 

Watch bengals even without Palmer run over that pathetic rookie qb 

CLEVE only s/u and ATS at home was vs the ravens

Arizona or the San Diego Super Chargers (my personal favorite). Don't fool around week 1 is my best suggestion.

Stats like this are meaningless. Why only include the previous 11 games? Because that supports the point you're trying to prove.

Also, team-specific trends are hard to give any value to, because a team's talent level changes year over year.

Best pick. Cleveland scares me. You should see all the people in my survivor league who picked them.

I'm taking Cleveland in my survivor league. The only other time I could see using them this year is at home against Seattle, but I could see them improving a lot once they get whitehurst in and their o-line gets healthy, so I consider this the best time by far to take the Browns. As far as Houston goes, I just don't see a reason to use such a good team when they're not at 100%. 

I'd say the best time to take Houston is week 8 at home against Jacksonville.
