I should have known the Rays still suck so bad that they can't even hit an inexperienced pitcher. the game is not done but it's way to far under to have a shot.

Keep your chin up, BIGLOUIS! I saw your post earlier, but I didn't want to sway you on a pick either way. I admit that I am not the most knowledgeable person on hockey totals. Not by a longshot. lol. Congratulations on getting that HAT!

Alright, I am calm now and no longer on tilt. After looking ahead at Saturday's board, I jumped on Cincinnati ( -108). Lots of reasons to like this play as Bronson Arroyo goes against Daniel Hudson. Cincinnati is 8-0 in the last 8 meetings in Arizona (Friday not included) and I look for the Big Red Machine to get rolling again Saturday night. Good luck all.CINCINNATI REDLEGS -108
You'd have to have a Death Wish to go against Bronson! Zero arned runs allowed tonight! The dude is mowing 'em down so far this season.REDLEGS Win! 6-1 final!

For Sunday's play, I'm giving baseball a rest and heading for the NBA. The pick is Chicago -4 over Orlando. Coach Thiobeau says he's not resting his starters since the Bulls are going for the league's best overall record and homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs. Sounds good to me since this is the time of year when we look for teams that are motivated to accomplish something. Chicago is on a tear right now as they've won six straight and 18 of the last 20. The Bulls have also won six straight on the road by a margin of 12.3 points and 9 of their last 10 roadies! On the Orlando side of things, they have locked up the conference's fourth seed and cannot improve their position. Also supporting this play is the fact that the Magic are beaten up right now and will be without suspended star Dwight Howard. I should have locked this earlier, but it'sDA BULLS -4 Best of luck ladies and gentlemen-

DA BULLS only won by one. I am just shocked! Well this is a good time to thank SmoothD for this awesome thread. I know that the purpose of this thread is to talk strategy, but we mostly just list who we are picking. This is totally cool in my opinion, because of my strategic beliefs. I believe that there is no strategy that can be applied every day to every side or total. No system is going to get you the required wins in and of itself, in my opinion. I also believe that the big money prizes can and have been won, so I'm not saying it can't be done. The way to beat the game is to treat each daily matchup like a puzzle or a riddle. You must research them all briefly and then narrow them down to a small group of three or four that you like. Then Thoroughly research those to find the ONE. That's how to do it, but the reason this game can be so frustrating is that, even after spending hours researching and making the so-called "right" pick, thing frequently play out the way the stats and trends indicate. Oh well, enough babbling. The bottom line is the game is challenging and fun. That's why we come back for more after even taking a beating. LoL. - Best of Luck, players.

Picking a total is completely hit or miss unless you have 3 reasons for your pick. For example I took the Cubs/Astros Over 8.5 because I think the offenses will get a lot of hits off of Ryan Dempster and Nelson Figueroa. Since I only gave one reason this is hit or miss. What is so weird is that when two good pitchers pitch example Phillies vs. Braves (Cliff Lee vs. Tim Hudson) I would believe the game would go under. However it went over the listed total of 7 with a 6-3 result. Another game between the Royals and the Tigers on Saturday had Bruce Chen and Phil Coke on the mound. I was very confident in the over 9.5 and the only reason I did not pick it is because this game does not put totals on games with a team that is favored -131 or greater. That game ended 3-1 but I lost my pick that I made that day because I took an over in a Tampa Bay Rays game which I will never do again with the offense they have.

Man I wish I took the what looks like easy UNDER in the Tiger vs Rangers game TODAY! A dreadlock into the 7th inning. Quad when taken O/U in baseball you also gotta factor the 2 repsective bullpens last 5 games. Those bums can make or break a total.

Good stuff on the totals, guys. Bullpens are very important! Also here's something that often goes overlooked when we make our baseball picks: the WEATHER! It can , at the very least give us a push, but at worst it can kill our streaks. For instance, let's say we really love a pitching matchup and jump on a pick only to have a downpour early on in a matchup. Well, we can kiss that matchup edge goodbye if their arms go cold, since they will not risk injury. Here's the best link for baseball weather that I know (so much usefuls information!): https://dailybaseballdata.com/cgi-bin/weather.pl
