The reason I'm into sports betting is because I grew up a sports fan of LSU and the Saints. Some gamblers may have favorite teams and some may not. If you do have a favorite team then this might be for you.
Last year I started betting AGAINST LSU and the Saints during football season and carried it over into LSU's basketball season. The philosophy is if your favorite team wins then you may not care losing some money. If your favorite team loses then at least you win some money. The key is to find an amount you don't mind losing.
One caveat is your team has to be the favorite (or at least a very small dog like +1 or +2). If they are faves or very small dogs bet against them. There may be times when your team wins the game but doesn't cover which in that case you'll also win the bet.
The only time I got burned was during March Madness. NC State was a 2pt fave over LSU in the first round and they won by one (at the buzzer if you remember). I bet on NC State in that game and I got it in the anus twice. But that was the only time.
If you are like me you'll find yourself still rooting for your team not caring about losing the money.
The reason I call it insurance bets is I look at it like life insurance. When you die (your team loses) then the claim (the bet) pays off. If you keep living (your team wins) then you keep paying into the policy.

It may sound crazy but hear me out.

I bet on Arizona as 1.5pt faves over the Saints and the Cards won by 12.
I bet on Miss St getting 3pts against LSU. LSU won but only won by two so I won the bet as well as my team winning the game.
This week LSU is favored by 7.5 (right now) over Auburn and the Saints are favored by 10 (right now) over Tampa. I'll be betting on Auburn and Tampa but hoping LSU and the Saints win the game.
