Yeah, it's pretty sad to see Smoltz end it this way.
But like a good deal of players he didn't know when to get out. Usually when you have been with a team as long as he had that's a huge sign when they don't want you. Just isn't right for him to be playing with any other team than the Braves.
Other players that you just wouldn't think would of played for these teams thier last year.
Franko Harris last year.....Seahawks
Joe Namath last year......Rams
Johnny Unitas last year.... San Diego (That just hurts)
Brett Favre last year.........Jets (BTW, did you know he played for the Falcons his first year)
Archie Manning last two years.....Houston and Minny
OJ. Simpson last team.....San Fran
Tony Dorsett last team.....Denver
Earl Campbell last team......New Orleans.
Sad just sad.........
I wish they would all go out like Ripken
Congrats on your win, I thought you were cooked when the Nats had runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs
Very true Lipps. If the Wren saw something still good in him and Glavine, he would of resigned him. These two guys bitched and moaned to the Atlanta media when the whole time Wren and the Braves were trying to save them from embarrasement. Glavine would have been a bigger disaster but thankful the massacre would have been avoided.
Now Smoltz has to faced a pissed off Yankess team that has lost 9 in a row against Boston. So not only does he have statistics against him, he has his reconstructed elbow, shoulder, and poor pitch placement to deal with. The Yankees are hitting well right now and licking thier chops at this oppurtunity.

Nole, don't sweat it man. The Sox +180 is the biggest sucker bet on the board tonight. They are trying to bait as many suckers as they can to put money on the Sox. Do you think Vegas is going to give out a Christmas preasant in August?

Hells no, this is the Red Sox we are talking about, not the Nationals.....

Yes Strzee, There is no such thing as the perfect system. That is why in is imperative to play Labouchere over Martingale. Everyone playing Martingale will pay hardcore one day. However this RPI system is incredibly accurate, and the Clevleland/Seattle episodes don't statistically relate to the sweep chase system that we are playing here. I see your logic and agree with it, but it is still statistically unrelated to the system circumstances.

That's why I was able to get the Yanks at -170. I got it last night.
Well, -1 -120.

I think you need to read the systems you are betting on to find out JM's importance of relying on the rpi.

It's true! It's true! (Kirk Angel). I locked in on the Yanks at -167 at matchbook the night before. It shot up to over -210 before game time.
Also the V-3 Marlins play was a winner on Wednesday if you played the +1.5 which was readily available at matchbook even up until game time so I can confirm that. Did I play it? Of course not because I'm an idiot. Why follow the system the proper way and win? That's too easy.
No big deal, got it all back on the Yankees tonight. Too SWEEET!
As for the Marlins A bet against the Phils on Friday, 8/7: I see the RPI difference between them is 0.012. Does anybody have any reservations about playing the series? I read in JM's V-3 system update that the difference can't be greater than 0.015. Anybody correct me if I'm wrong please because at first I though it was 0.01.
