I am thinking about getting an extra device to simply get on the internet and watch youtube videos or games on ESPN3 and get onto covers or get into 5dimes to place wagers or onto yahoo! to get my email. Oh yeah and facebook too. Has anybody used this yet? Does it work fast as far as getting from one page on the internet to another? Any comments?
Thanks

Got one about 3 weeks now, really like it. Easy to surf, email, you tube etc. Small foot print, 8 - 10 hours battery life. Check out reviews on Amazon.

I chose a tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10") over the Chromebook after looking extensively at both. I use it basically for the same things you listed and I think for the price you may like the tablet better since you can do a little more with it. I use it mostly on weekends checking lines/fantasy scores but also play a few games and surf. One charge gets me through Mon-Fri easily and then I just charge when needed after Sat/Sun when I use it the most. Has good wi-fi range, sound and video quality are great. If you like Chrome you can download it as your browser. Plenty of free apps also. Comes with gmail... I also use Yahoo for mail and the app is free and works quite well, it gives you an alert when you get a new e-mail which is nice. Covers app works Ok.... I prefer the regular site though. I've had mine since June and I like it.

If you're looking for something inexpensive then check out a netbook. Asus and Lenovo are top of the line computer companies that offer fantastic netbooks. Get one that is HDMI compatible so you know the processor is capable of the latest graphics. And the battery life on some are over 12 hours. They're light, portable, last all day, can play HDMI streaming movies and more than capable for whatever you can throw at it.

I got a Samsung Chromebook a month ago and absolutely love it. I actually barely use the tablet that I spoke about above anymore other than playing games like chess, sudoku or doing puzzles.

Thank you for the input everyone. LOL I had forgotten about this thread and checked in to see if anyone had posted a thread about it and voila!!! Anyway....I am now looking at the Toshiba Chromebook 2 because a ton of reviews have stated that this the second best chromebook you can get for processor speed and screen quality. The Pixel Chromebook is like 3 or 4 times as expensive so that defeats the purpose.
I refuse to buy anything windows anymore since the required antivirus always slows the machine down AND it never works properly anyway.

For the Windows boxes get www.bitdefender.com They even have a great freeware version at the bottom right of the website. This antivirus has a very small footprint and I install it on all boxes I work on.
