Cincinnati - Mens and Womens Thread

For the men, Delpo is my horse this week...rested and fresh, he should have a bit of an advantage later on in the week...however he does have a tough potential QF vs Anderson, and the SF vs Roger looms large...best case scenario is Murray upsets Roger and comes into the Delpo match limping on one hip...we shall see...in the top half of the draw, i see Rafa losing vs Milos, and if not there, Edmund may take him out...regardless i dont see Nadal "needing" to give max effort here and add unnecessary mileage on his body leading upto the USO...top half is wide open in my opinion...Roanic/Edmund/Cilic would be my predictions in the top half, but i am only locking in with the following futures:

My read here is that Shapo has regressed a little, for whatever reason pressure or expectations or opposing players/coaches have figured out his weaknesses...his loss to Haase in the manner of how poorly he played tells me his confidence is way off, and coming into this match he has very little Mojo to work off of...Tiafoe legit should have beat Dimitrov last week, and despite my wonderful how this guy keeps playing well against more established and talented players with a serve that always seems vulnerable, and his forehand which i dont understand the motion of which keeps spitting out winners...given hes playing on home soil, Americans tend to only play well on US hard courts...i think this match goes Tiafoe 76 64 or 76 63 depending who serves first

My gut says Saba wins this one in 3...Konta is not the same player as when she was rolling into the top 10, shes fighting herself oncourt mentally, while Saba just had a career week in Montreal at the biggest event of her career beating Wozniacki, and almost beating Mertens only a few hours later on the same day in the heat...i dont have the courage to take ML +175 as its not enough for me here, however i like this to be close all the way.

Do you know whether the Cinci courts are on faster or slower end of hard courts? Last week at Toronto they were on slower end.

Not too sure...maybe we have a local amongst us who could answer how the courts are playing, plus the weather...looks like alot of rain wed-sat so humidity should be high, which tends to slow things down a bit

I always make mental notes who is able to hold serve when serving for sets/matches, and who is able to break serve when facing losing a set/match...doesnt surprise me at all that Tiafoe choked at 5-4...he and i have a thing going this summer, but i swear i will come out ahead betting this guy...ill catch him good at the USO.

The way the womens tour goes from my experience is when a mediocre player like Cornet exceeds expectations one week, they regress back the following week....and when a good player has an early exit in a disappointing result one week, they come back stronger with a better effort.

This match fits this betting strategy to a tee...we shall see if it plays out as i hope it will...63 64 Osta
