Is it just me or does going back to manual line calls feel like:
One small step for [Line Judge] Man, one giant [backwards] leap for Mankind.
It kind of drives me nuts everytime we go back to a tournament with line judges. Krueger challenged one of her first serves that was called out and I'm thinking, 'crap, she saw what I saw. That was obviously in'. But of course it was like 6 inches out. Challenges don't remedy the problem for a myriad of reasons and can even make things murkier, as we saw with Krueger in the TB.
Before electronic calls I would typically trust the judge. Now I trust nothing. If you're reading this far into my rant I don't trust you either. I guess for now we can only count on consistent calls when the ATP is present.

Interesting changeup in Abu Dhabi. I bet Kenin as an underdog in qualies against #1 seed Veronika Kudermetova because I thought she could win and also had a feeling that there might be a late withdrawal, making way for Veronika as LL.
There indeed has been a late withdrawal.... And it's none other than Polina Kudermetova, leaving big sister to face Samsonova instead. Interesting tactic.
I'm sure Veronika was shocked to suddenly learn she'd play today and was completely unaware of her sister's health.
Kind of liking Veronika now.

Well, tennis is one of the hardest sports to predict (that fact is what makes it fun to try imo) first of all there are a billion factors that affect the value in a bet + stuff like: stats, rankings, etc. does not mean much if a player has a bad day - because there are not 10 other players on the court to help them - but it is a good lesson at least if you have learned never to trust strangers with your money, but always do your own research.

The market had this one mispriced because of Parks' indoor hard success and Olga's tendency to play better on clay (until recently). But these courts are not quite as fast as most typical indoor hard courts. Then you factor in recent form and that made this one a no brainer.

Since December, which is about a month into her return from pregnancy, Bencic has 11 wins and 4 losses.
One loss was too Paolini in straights, the other three were 3 set losses. She lost the third set to Gauff 1-6, Samsonova 4-6, & Parks 0-6.
Seems like a tough task to grind past Sramkova at this point.
I'm on her at +310 & +180 but if the line opens back with plus odds I'd still jump on it.

@Uman
Nice. I had her in a small ML parlay with Bronzetti.
Simona Halep announced her retirement after the match. Sad situation given what's happened with other doping allegations recently.

@wgomel21
Watched some of our gal Linda this morning. Didn't put much on it because I wanted to see her first but she looks like she's rounding back into form. Very impressive.

I'm so disappointed though. Why didn't the trolls come in and after the first set????
I won big on the moneyline after the first set too. But definitely a nice cover. Stearns is one of the few players that I wouldn't completely lose hope on winning by 4 games after losing the first set by 4 games. She can reel off a string of games about as good as anyone. I've made a lot of money on her betting live in third sets when she's down. Sometime last summer she won a 3 set match that stayed under the games total. Something like 6-0 1-6 6-1.
My favorite though was in Rabat. She was trailing Bronzetti 0-5 in the 3rd with Bronzetti serving and facing match point. She had been super frustrated the whole set before she finally just said screw it and just started swinging away since the match was practically over anyways. But the thing was that nearly every shot she hit was a perfect winner. She saves the match point and wins 7 games in a row to win the match. Then the next morning in the semis she's down 1-4 in the third against Tomova and I'm thinking, oh I've seen this movie before, and put a sizable amount on her again. She ends up winning in a 3rd set breaker and dominates in the final to win her first title. Such a fun week for me lol.
Imagine the odds of her winning that tournament when she was down 0-5 in the quarterfinals facing match point. If that bet was available it would have been like Powerball odds.

Viktorija Golubic -3.5 (-125)
Olga Danilovic -2.5 (-105)
Ana Bogdan -1.5 games (-120)
Stearns -3.5 (-128)
Big rookie mistake for me on Golubic. I didn't factor in the Rus lefty topspin cross court forehand constantly peppering her one handed backhand. She got the win in the end but those rallies were where she struggled.
