I have had some extra thoughts and decided to get rid of Gauff, I do have her in the future so still think that she will win, but Garcia has had good results here in the past, and Gauff did disappoint in US Open, and I kind of hope she will be out so she can focus on doubles.
Keeping it simple, the only bet today in singles is this parlay
Collins, Opelka, Sakkari, Karatsev, Pliskova | 3.5 (Bet365) | 2 units
Will have more plays when all the odds are out in the doubles.

Halep and Ruse, the first time this Rumanian couple plays together, very exciting the legend Halep with the up and coming Ruse. Halep is ranked 414 in doubles but if she wanted to play more double she would be a top 5 player without a doubt.
She showed that in Miami beating Nr 1 ranked at that moment Sabalenka and Mertens in 2 sets, just to withdraw from the doubles the next round to focus on singles.
I don't think that will be the case here, I think now when she played with Ruse, they want to make Rumania round, and I think Halep feels she has some responsibility to take care of the next star from Rumania. And Ruse who is already in fine form is going to raise her level even higher playing with her idol and county legend Halep.
Halep is 4-1 and Ruse 12-6 this year in double.
They now playing Bozukova and Hrdecka both from the Czech Republic, that was in the same situation, country legend Hrdecka (36 years old) and Bozukova 23 playing together for the first time this year and it was been a success. They are 19/6 this year and have won two titles, one on grass and one on hard court back in Czech Republic. They are 6-4 in the last 10 matches and have lost a little of the spark they had at the beginning of this year.
I rate both Halep and Ruse as better players individually, and they look good in the first round when they beat Jurak / Klepa who is one of the top pairs on the tour and that I also rate much higher than Bozukova and Hardecka.
-----------------
I did play against Melichar & Schuurs in Chicago last week, unfortunately, they won that match in a 3rd tie break, just to lost the next match instead as heavy favourites.
The two did start this year very good winning in Doha and Charleston and reach a semi-final in Australia Open and two finals on grass in June. But since then it's been going downhill.
In their last 11 matches, they are 5-6 with first-round losses in both Wimbledon and US Open.
In their last 7 matches, they have faced 65(!) break balls, an average of 4,6 for each set, I think that's going to be very costly against Gauff and Fernandez who is both great returners and both serves well.
My money is on the two US Open finalists

Granollers-Pujol, Zeballos vs Fognini, Sonego, both Foganini and Sonego is playing their singles matches tomorrow, so if they lose the first set, I can't see them want to put to much effort into this and instead save some energy for tomorrow.
Granollers-Pujol and Zeballos rank 7 and 8 in the world, won Cincinnati earlier this year without losing a set and reached the QF in US Open. So they are in good form. The Italian pair have only played once before and lost that game.
My only worried is if it turns into 40-0, 40-0, 40-0 kind of match where they don't use any energy and we have TB after 30min in the first set...

Hsieh S-W. / Mertens has the chance to end this year as world number 1 in doubles if they do well here, they are both out of the singles so all focus is here. Iga is the odds favourite to win the singles and I think that the singles are her priority here and not very impressed with Mattek-Sands.
There should also be a great desire for revenge for Hsieh and Mertens after their last meeting in French Open. They were 5-1 up in the 3rd set and somehow lost 5-7, Iga and Mattek saved 7 match balls in that game.
Pliskova should just be another level for Haddad Maia, last time they played 2018 she won 6-1 6-1 and I would say Pliskova is much better now than in 2018. Haddad has found her level in the IFT tournaments and doing well there. It would require something very extra for Haddad to take a set here.

Bjorn_Borg congrats on a wonderful day yesterday ...............going 3-1 +18.50 Units.
I like the K. Pliskova pick today.
Lucky Loser B. Haddad Maia has not played anyone ranked above WTA #70 and #72 in well over one and a half years. She has excelled on the ITF circuit and this is a tremendously big step up in competition for her to be taking on WTA # 3 Pliskova (-526 at bookmaker) today.
B. Haddad Maia served a 10 month doping suspension and has been building her ranking back up playing ITF W60 , W100 and W125 tourneys the last 1 and a half years.
I had already a made a substantial play on Pliskova winning 2-0 at -169 at bookmaker before I saw your post.
As we all know this is gambling and anything can and does happen, however I like my chances with this 2-0 straight sets play today because I feel that B. Haddad Maia will come onto the court "highly satisfied" with making this 3rd round very nice windfall unsuspected paycheck for herself after being a lucky loser and fully satisfied the way her year has gone on the ITF circuit and she just wants to make a respectful showing today. Hopefully wee are looking at a 6-3 6-4 kind of day in our favor.
