The Canadian has finally taken some improvement steps this season after stalling for the past couple years. Think Raonic is in a state of FU mode to people saying he can't play on grass. He's not putting himself in troubling court situations and is really maximizing his strengths. Comes into this one playing extremely well and it will come down to his first serve percentage and Nishikori's return game. Seems to have found his comfort range on the court and looks more confident with his game planning thanks to Ljubicic. Big serves and fast points should be just enough to garner an edge in this one and I don't think Kei will be able to handle the high percentage serving from the confident Canadian or the following forehand punch to really make an impression on Raonic's service games. Raonic will in turn be looking to tee off on Nishikori's main liability, his serve, all match and should garner enough chances to capitalize on the big points to advance in this one.

He lost his first match a couple weeks ago on grass vs Peter Gojo (120).

Tough call..

Surface transition loss, lot of top players lost coming over from the French. How many players left in the draw also lost early that week?
Raonic was touted to be the next big grass guy with his game but hasn't done well since his slip and injury vs Muller. Looking like Bambi on skates in previous years. I believe he's turned a corner not only in his game development but also figured out how to win on this surface now.

Yeah, been playing for about 4 years now. Helps with handicapping and vice versa.

very cool man.  love referencing that site later in tournies. one of the few where you can trust if the majority is on one side (unlike olbg) - aside from lopez, which i didnt understand the love for anyway.  great tips per usual, happy canada day eh?

Very big win against Sharapova for Kerber. Was a back and forth affair with high drama and the German was finally able to find victory on her 7th match point and dispatch the French Open champion... and that was only to get to the quarterfinals. Not sure she'll have much left mentally for this one against Bouchard as it was a very emotionally draining match for Kerber. The Canadian represents a younger version of Sharapova with the same type of aggressive style and I just don't see Kerber able to fight through this one for another tough win on consecutive days.

I think the wrong gal is favored in the Halep/Lisicki matchup. Can't believe the books on this one (also had her against Ivanovich where she was +200). This gal has only lost one match the past two years here (in the final where she lost her nerves and started crying) and her game was made for grass. Love Bouchard as well.

Careful with Lisicki bb, 20 double faults yesterday and had her neck and shoulder looked at by the trainer. If healthy I'd agree with you that she would have great value. GL

Didn't think the kid would win honestly, I had Raonic beating Nadal. Also Bouchard to beat Sharapova, was a day late apparently.

Sorry I missed this post, n3. I had no idea Lisicki had issues. Put my bet in last night and went to bed, only to wake up to see the shocking score. That's what happens when you don't watch and/or research. Luckily I tailed you on Bouchard (you had a great read) so I broke even. Good luck rest of the way.
