nadal dealing with arm discomfort...assuming medvedev beats dimitrov, maybe he has an answer for nadal...im afraid he wont but it would be cool if he beat him somehow
He had a cramp in absurdly humid conditions. He will be just fine after an ice bath and hydration. DId you see the meeting Medvedev and Nadal had 2 wks ago? When Med didnt have a leg injury? He got crucified. Had no answer for the heavy topspin. Final would be no different.

I'm curious on your thoughts on the ladies semi's tonight also on the futures.
Personally I think Andreescu's had a nice run but she appears to be running out of gas. I have futures on her, however I'm considering cashing out because even if she might win tonight by the slimmest of margins there is no way she will have enough to take Serena. I think Bencic is a great chance tonight.
Thanks for sharing your input as always.

To take Serena? Svitolina, can take out Serena today. Why are you looking past Williams semi-final? I mean no offense to Williams, but this particular US Open she beat a bunch of nobodies thus far.

William's + Home Court = High probability to win in my opinion. Plus she hasn't played very many long matches. Serena can also over power and is much more consistent then the competition Svitolina has faced.
Granted Svitolina has a chance. But the odds look favorable for a reason and I'm not biting.

I never compared her sets to Svitolina, but thanks for that stat. I just think unless Serena gets injuried this is a bad match up for Svitolina. Svitolina the human backboard likes to run back and forth and play defense. She wont catch up to Serenas 2nd or 3rd shot. Plus dont discount the impact Arthur Ash the biggest stadium in tennis and the impact that will play with what's at stake. The moment will be too big for Svitolina.
I give Svitolina a 5% chance. Would I pay -300 for Serena on the other hand? hell no. Theres better value in the other womans match. Bencic has a solid chance, Andreescu is out of gas and it's back to back.
Good luck with your pick.

You also forget that Serena is bulky and 37, while Svitolina is fit and 24. Furthermore, it is not Svitolina's rodeo vs Williams, so she is not going to have first timer jitters.
All Serena got on her is her serve, if it goes 3 sets, Serena will most likely lose due to fitness. Her best chance to win is to blow Svitolina off the court. It is that simple. If it goes 3 rounds, it is a coin toss in my opinion.

You've sure got a good sense of value if you wouldn't take -300 with what you think is a probability of 95%.

This is WTA. Not sure how long you've been betting it. Women are flakey and Serena is injury prone. I refuse to bet -300 on any WTA favorite. Sorry.

Exactly... You're debunking your own argument. Just about nobody in WTA has a 95% chance of winning a match... Especially someone playing a top 5 in form player. Even Serena. Wasn't trying to get in an argument, I just personally think she's got a pretty good shot tonight.

When has backing players Fed has choked against and made look good ever paid off?? When? Name me one time. OK. I'll name it. That guy was Cilic and the only reason he won his next match was because he was playing the mental/physical midget: Nishi. Otherwise, the guys who beat Fed usually get crushed because they did not really beat Fed, Fed beat himself.

Dimitrov is the equivalent of a dumb blond. The guy has nothing up there. He is all ability and no brain. Zero. Even his coaches gave up on him, which is why they did not show up to the Open. Now he is playing a guy who is his opposite in the brain department. If this was chess the match would be over in less than a minute, but since it's tennis and Med has some fatigue issues it will take at least a couple of hours for him to send Dimitrov packing.

My skillset predicts 64 76 for the Romanian...what drama sequence will Serena come up with this time? Rolls an ankle? "Mysterious" back spasms? Broken nail? Dare i say it...foot fault?
Are there any books out there with "Serena loses by DQ or death threats to a linesperson" props? I would sprinkle a few shekkels on those

First one we have been completely oppo on in a while. This is serena 24 time and she is not yet ready to pass that torch. I think we see serena straights but good luck

I dunno about backing Bianca here, i think the biggest difference between this GS final and the others, for Serena, is that she did what she said after Wimby, which is play some matches before USO, so she doesn't come in flat, physically. She really wants that record and played like that, in her last couple of matches.
Here is a revelation i had about Bianca, pointed out by some people on another forum also, i get why Kerber was mad at her after that game, Bianca has some "drama queen-ish" behaviors. At the time i thought Kerber was a sore loser, but you can see how Bianca's demeanor could be upsetting, after points she bends over like she is in pain, she has some grimaces of discomfort, or something is bothering her, she even did it with Bencic. I think she is the del Potro of WTA. Just to make my self clear, i'm not saying she is faking injuries or something like that, it's just these small things she seems to be doing when she struggles, with the rhythm of the game.
Having said all that, Bianca of course can beat Serena, but she had a tapping under her left knee, her right shoulder is a recurring problem for her, and given Serena's problems of late, both of them could get injured in this one.
Btw packers, this the perfect example about mentality, that is what i was telling you regarding Simona, the talent is there, like it's with Bianca, but the upbringing makes a lot of difference.
BOL with the plays
