Trump Tariffs

Trump is threatening steel and aluminum tariffs (steel 25%, aluminum 10%).  China could retaliate with agricultural tariffs, specifically the corn and/or soybean producers.  Largest exporters of these agricultural products are located in the midwest (Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana, Kansas, Wisconsin and etc, etc).  Lets just hope China doesn't retaliate by buying less or outright halt their purchases of our U.S. Treasury Bills. 

Negotiating 101 come in high accept less make the other side think they won something. Force the people across the table to make hastily prepared statements, to tip their hand, in front of a bank of microphones.

(full disclosure i do not know anything about the steel industry)

Canada, Mexico and South Korea are the largest steel exporters to the U.S.  China is #11.  Retaliation can come from our neighbors instead of China since they're the one's getting hit the hardest.  

So there wont be country based loopholes huh? China is 5 steps ahead of this blowhard it wont make much difference to them...they will play the US corp game of shifting the materials to another country for a polish and then avoid this big tough tarriff just like the solar panels.

Want to be tough Trump? How about smack down the US corps who are cheating the government of legit taxable income, start there instead of fake gestures like this is.

I am the one here who wondered why he didnt do it at the same time as the solar farce. If you want to REALLY do this then make it across the board, no loopholes and be serious about it...not just China and a few others, do all countries or none.

I think the whole idea is a waste of time, unless it serves the true purpose it is lip service. How about we really crack down on the abusers...the Chinese are not the abusers of this country...it is our own multi-national corps who are abusing this country and cheating much more in dollars than the Chinese.

Yeah all those reasons are why the Trump-ster is doing this..

When the tariffs on steel were imposed by the previous administration,, I guess they were not really serious either ..because it only effected China and six other countries....I think there's always a political reason when President's like Obama and Trump don't go across the board with tariffs..

Although GW.Bush did put a temporary tariff of30% on all global steel imports back in 2002........

How is it different??? this is so pathetic it is humorous. My comment about solar panels was ON topic to say that I mentioned this issue previously, admitting that I asked why he didnt hit steel and aluminum also...on topic. How is it different? Well being critical of Trump is not being partisan, it is being critical of TRUMP. Being partisan would go like so... "Trump is a moronic, useless republican and if Sanders or Clinton would have been elected it would be XYZ blah blah blah...THAT is partisan.

You may not like that I am critical of HIM, but that does not make my comment partisan. I think Trump is an abusive, little ego loser no matter what party he belongs to. It is not often you will find me blaming PARTY or comparing PARTY, but you fall into this repub vs dem over and over and over and over. Its a weak, unskilled way of debating, it is a waste of time and a joke. Debate the topic, refute the topic not what party he is or what Obama did or didnt do.
