I'm really not seeing much value on Chicago on the money line. Is it just me or does it look like the books are putting the clamps to us with the bears and the money line. 2 to 1 on your dollar is not bad but that number just doesn't suit a 7 point underdog. I thought the number should be at +250 or more but maybe the books are playing it real safe on this one and expect a closer game than the 7 point undergdog status they made the Bears. Will someone (with knowledge) please help me out here and let me know if you agree with me or if I am just being gready trying to get better value on the Bears.

JT - Underdog ML is a big square play in the Super Bowl. All props & ML dogs get hit hard. Plus Chicago is a big market with big bettors.
You are correct, it should be +250. The value is +7 if you are going that way.
Grego - One flaw in your statement - lots of people are on the Bears, the line is dropping.
Go to SuperBowl.com and see what the vote is on who will win the SB? Almost 50/50. And check the betting consensus numbers, heavily tilted to the Bears. THEY ARE PUBLIC.
Public underdog? Beware. And this line will close at 6.5 or less, believe it.

Yeah I will just place more cash and take the points.
I am still trying to figure out Greg O's comparison of this superbowl and the championship game. I know a lot of people that gave the gators a chance and like 3rd said 60% of the betting public likes Chicago +7. College football and pro football are two different monsters....tough to compare the two.

Thanks 3rd.....

I am a football fundamentalist....I believe in running the football, stopping the run, playing stiff defense and a good punter....I am old left guard and middle linebacker...I am a trench warfare guy...it's a tough physical game in the middle of the field and don't bother knockin' helmets in there if you don't want to spend lots of time in the whirlpool and in the training room the next day...
As a fan, I love a creative offense as much as anyone...WAC games are as exciting as they come when the first team to get to 60 points wins...but this isn't a WAC game on Sunday and as creative and talented as Tom Moore, PM and their team is, they probably can't turn it into one...
I am almost sold on taking the more physical smash-mouth team along with the 6.5 points they come with...I think Indy is the better team BUT in a game of matches and mismatches, Chicago has some advantages that Indy may really struggle with over the course of sixty minutes...(2 fine runners, a defense with attitude, a dangerous returner, an underdog team playing with a chip on their shoulder)....the three corners for the Bears (Tillman, Vasher and R. Manning) bring a lot to the table...if they play lights-out and can half-way contain the dangerous weapons of Indy, Chicago can beat the spread and maybe even win the game...Ulracher is the best MLB in the game...that position is the "quarterback" of the defense and one I know as well as any on the field...he will have them bucked-up and ready for battle...the Colts do a great job with "cup protection" as that is what Howard Mudd has always schemed...the DE's/OLB's of the Bears have to get an upfield rush from the edge to beat that particular scheme as the inside of the pocket is pre-eminent and the least vulnerable...the Bears have the personnel to do that with Brown and Ogunleye...but they are facing arguably the finest quarterback in the game right now who runs that offense to perfection...
On the other side, three words: run the football! Good things happen when you commit to do that and find success....and it is a commitment...if the Colts go up ten points, I hope Turner and Smith are patient enough to keep feeding Jones/Benson...for some reason, I am thinking this may be Cedric Benson's coming out party...what we saw Ron Dayne and Jones-Drew do to the Colts defense may have something to do wih that....even when Rex was playing horribly against NO in the early part of the game, the defense, run game and special teams kept them ahead in the game until the Bears could pull away after NO self-destructed...if the Bears commit to the run, play the field position game, don't press their QB with risky plays and protect the football, they will be in very good position to beat the spread or win outright...
As far as totals, you can put into a thimble what I know about totals!! But I like the Over due to Indy's offense and because almost all of the Bears games go over...so since I like the Over AND I suck at totals, I am picking the under!!! Plus, high-roller hollywood loves the Under so I am going to roll with him...if I win, it's because I had faith in him and if I lose, I can always use his pick against him in the future!!!
Betting against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts is NOT an easy thing for me to do...if Chicago comes out and hasn't brought their A-Game, they will get rolled...it will make the St. Valentine's Day Massacre look like a teenage girl's slumber party! Indy is capable of beating the Bears by 21 points...particularly if the Bears can't find a rushing groove and the back seven of the Bears struggle with all the crossing routes they are likely to see...but as of now, I am liking the Bears +6.5 and under 47.5...those are the lines at the place I wager...and they have gone down from +7 and 48.5...
Good luck fellas...and keep voting!!!

Since Smokey said he was only leaning toward the over, I did not record his "offiicial" vote...
...and I would never engage in filthy and obscene profanity while being surrounded by such fine outstanding gentlemen with their virgin ears and delicate sensibilities...who do you think i am?...some uncouthed slobberknocker old left guard or something???

My vote is not officially the Bears and under...I will wait til half time to give my "official" vote.

Sorry bro but I am about to be rude, so everyone else I've pissed off or affended in the past please skip this post of mine......Lucho, WTF are you talking about? You think that books are that stupid that they would make it possible to make money or break even without the risk of losing a penny? I don't even understand what you are trying to say, none of it makes sense. There is a reson why the money line for each team is different maybe you haven't noticed that yet. Indy is -255 and chicago is +215. So maybe you can put down your forty and your joint and explain your theory to us one more time before this game kicks off on Sunday afternoon. You sound like on of those infomercials .........

But i bet you're a closet watcher of Grey's Anatomy, ER, Scrubs, Dr. 90210, and House (can't think of anymore). I bet your patients call you........... Dr. Mac-Gambler!!!!!
