There are ppl who can truthfully win 30k during football season but it does not mean they can become a professional capper. Hell, I can win or lose 75-100k at the tables or win the same in a weekend and I don't consider myself a professional card counter.
Stop feeding the beast and it will die.
Broncofn, I can understand your sentiment, however, this thread will not be dying anytime soon. Here is why.
The great majority of guys on this site can identify with CG much more than they can with you. It's nothing personal...it's strictly a socioeconomic phenomenon.
For you, a win or loss of 75k to 100k during a trip to Vegas, or even on one blackjack, tables or poker session might just be a normal swing. It represents a relatively small amount compared to your net worth.
But 30k as a lifetime "savings and bankroll" amount fits much more with 99% of those who frequent this site. They may not have anywhere near that much as a bankroll even, but they can identify with CG working 5 years and saving up and making the move. Even more than that, he is doing what 99% of them have dreamed of doing at least once in their lives.
For many, the time for taking their shot is come and gone and will never be again...thus, the vicarious opportunity to watch this cannot be passed up. They themselves will not have the opportunity or bankroll to do it. This is all there is for them.
It may be difficult to put yourself in their shoes at this point in your life. I have noticed that when people attain a certain level of wealth, their memories of where and what they came from seem to dim with time and money. This is not a personal indictment of you, just an observation of mine. It is understandable if this is the case and it does seem to be given your statement.
Be that as it may, the force is strong with this thread for the reasons I stated and many others. It cannot die, it will not die...
Until the dream dies. And even then, it will only be dead until the next intrepid young gambler makes a trek and decides to share their journey with a world that loves to watch.
I know all of you who said you were out are still watching and lurking. It's all you can do to stop yourself from typing at certain times when you see the lunacy reach a new high water mark. Don't deny it, you cannot deny it...the lure continues.
Just know you are not alone.
