Just dropped by to say keep up the good work, I'm enjoying the thread, and mucho respect. Also, I'm on Portland tonight as well. Looks like a pretty high value play to me, as Miami has been below average on the road this year, especially recently, while Portland has been great at home. And there is no reason as far as I can tell to believe those things will change tonight. If anything, I see the national television appearance as more of an advantage for Portland than Miami. Seems like if it wasn't for all the public support, Portland should be about a 3 point favorite themselves by my estimation.

As for the Sacramento play, my only take is that Dallas seems to need a win pretty badly right now, almost to the point of desperation. They've played the Clippers and Miami tough on the road since they've had Dirk back. There is the fatigue factor to consider. It just seems too coin flippy to me with Sacramento giving 2.5 so I'm not going to play it. If I'm wrong, I'll do my best to assess why, and make note of it for future reference. BOL as always.

Although it's only first quarter - does not seem they are going to score 63 in the second quarter. So. That is what it is. Will look at the halftime value if there's any

quite suprised you took the over there MAVIN....though it was a low under for a first half...All the studying I did had the under in every sense of the word...Like I said earlier though when you put an uptempo team vs a great defense (chicago, indiana, memphis/)......u generally see a fluctuation either way....thats why those teams have high and low scoring games so much... strickly against uptempo teams high and low scoring i'm saying..

I figured the game had a good chance going under but the first half would be less defense. Obviously I was wrong. Not just little wrong. Big time wrong on that one

no biggie MAVIN...j/w what gave you the idea about the over....I watched them last time they played and I remembered the game pretty well, pace wise...Question mavin....you do know what i meant when I say about uptempo vs defensive teams right??....I mean really though whenever I think of totals for Chicago, Memphis, Indiana...Boston is another one...How totals fluctuate so much against uptempo teams...you really have to do a lot of research for those type games...that and just hope lol

But one thing I thought about the ny/indiana game tonight....is jr smith was going to need to have a big game to stay in it, I thought...Also when a somewhat uptempo team is brought to half court...Without your star player like Melo (who can play both uptempo and halfcourt)...it can put a team out of their element...Without so many set, base plays and you start shooting bad, (thought it can't last the whole way through out), it seems to functionally make a team play worse...much like when you watch Houston...and then they go on an away game and you watch and ask yourself...how are they not scoring???....being frustrated combined with being out of your element combined with playing a great defensive team...it makes things very tough

melos i feel quite strongly that a game between 2 different style teams as u describe is far more likely to b dictated by the defensive-minded side because theres many ways tactically that u can limit the game defensively in terms of possessions and opportunities to stymie a side trying to move the ball quickly or take fast shots or run a lot......obviously coach of the defense team will b preaching things like use a lot of the shot clock every time down,dont take too many long shots which make long rebounds,keep turnovers to a minimum,make sure safetys are always back ready to get back on D,foul wen necessary 2 stop the clock and take away pace and rhythm....anyhow im going on a bit but my point is theres a lot of ways to dictate the tempo of the game and not 2 much a team can do 2 counter it or speed it up,providing the stodgy team is committed to it....we see this far more in the playoffs obviously so it is more a matter of if a team can b bothered doing it in regular season

agreed...i actually was going to mention that it can be easier for a defense......plus regardless most the times it will be easier for a defense because other team will be out of their element either way....so most the time wouldn't you want to put a team against you, stuck in your kind of game........good read though and good call

one thing enough teams dont get is the simple fact, that they play uptempo teams...and allow themselves to get down by so much, they don't have a choice but to play that way....

the thing about Indiana is they quietly play well a lot, simply because they dont get put all over the media because they dont have that razzle dazzle and play more defensive, team oriented basketball...quietly they have gone 11-3 in their last 14 games

this is exactly what i mean though this fourth quarter....the knicks don't know what to do, especially w/o having melo on the floor...jr smith is the only one who can create with the ball in his hands...so he always gets left with the ball....and god knows he loves to shoot....the knicks have no clue what to do on offense...
