Now to the games. The Clips. I personally think that the best spot to go against the Clippers SU will be after the let down experienced following their first loss. They have a very difficult stretch including 4 games and I will take that stretch as a whole. Tomorrow's game @GS and day after the game against LAL followed by a hosting GS - that is the stretch the loss will come in. Although I like the Nuggets to get their revenge today - better bet is Over as the Nuggets can't repeat at home what they did in Memphis. Revenge for the Christmas day loss is also due. So Over I'm going to play and lean Denver. Strongest play thou is Dallas today as they are really coming off a most difficult games they could have and Washington simply is not as good a team as Dallas at this spot. That is my strong lean.
SportsMavin, inspired words, sir. Thank you, and happy new year to you as well!
I find your comments on the Clippers interesting. Let me say first that I strongly agree with your sentiment that the Clippers' streak is very close to its end. However, I'm not sure I understand your logic that we should wait until they lose one to start fading them. Can the let down not come after a win?
The streak the Clippers are on is very nice, but while they have a few impressive wins early in the year -- two wins over San Antonio and a win over OKC come to mind -- they have mostly just been beating up on teams that are in the bottom half of the league lately. And while Denver is no powerhouse overall, I think we have to strongly consider the fact that they are 9-1 in Denver and are one of only five teams in the league who average a double-digit victory at home (along with OKC, San Antonio, Miami, and the Clippers themselves).
We already saw the Jazz almost knock off the Clippers twice at home during the streak. Plus, we can count on Denver, who is rested and healthy, to come out highly motivated, as this isn't just another game, but one that has the chance to be one of their games of the regular season if they win -- not to mention your point about the revenge factor.
And meanwhile, while the Clippers are hot, and they seem to want to win the Pacific badly, and they probably want to keep the streak alive, ultimately they know that winning in the playoffs is what really matters and this is just another game on the 82-game schedule.
Denver has already beaten San Antonio, Memphis and the Lakers at home and their only loss has come by 5 to the Heat. It is going to take a strong effort by the Clippers to win tonight. And we know they have that in them. I see a close game, but I believe Denver is likely to take this one. I also believe it's a great spot for a 5 point tease if you have something good to tease it with, as I see the chances of the Clippers running away with this one being pretty small. Just my two cents. Good day, sir.
