Totally agree with you, and I have already played it. Appalachian State team is an experienced team, and they have a good running game that will be going against a defense that is only average. The only negative I see is the Head Coach (Scott Scatterfield) for Appalachian State departed to Louisville. Obviously the key to the game as you stated David is the outstanding defense of Appalachian State which is ranked 5th in the country in total yards allowed, and is ranked 3rd against the pass, which does not bode well for a passing team like Middle Tennessee.

Why post it in his thread, and not start your own??? We could careless what you post as your first post on the forum.

I think I heard that before somewhere!

DavidN,
i have been impressed by your work. Do you think the decision to pass over the current Def Coor and interim coach for someone outside the program may dampen player enthusiasm? These games so often come down to motivation. Saw in another thread that the players were wanting the interim promoted.

The players still play the game not the coaches. The players ultimate goal is to be drafted into the NFL. And getting out from under their austere backgrounds for most. Letting up for the blue chippers is not an option. In my humble opinion.

Maybe not, but there have been too many times when I have lost bets because a superior team got beat in a bowl game because they came out unfocused and flat, sometimes because they felt like they deserved a better bowl or a better opponent (South Florida beating Texas Tech), sometimes because of a coaching change (example, SMU last year when the coach had left for Arkansas or Tex A&M getting killed by Wake after coaching change). The attitude that a team comes into a bowl with is driven by the coaches. I was on a local bowl committee from many years and some coaches look at it as a reward for the team, a vacation or a chance to try out things for next year. Some coaches let their kids run wild. Some kids who don't want to be at the bowl in that city are unfocused during practice and try to turn it on for the game, butt that often does not work. In my opinion, whether a team really wants to be there or anything else that affects the players' attitude and focus makes a big difference.

Your point can hold true if coaches leave are not.
