Its a fine line we try to keep, the guy is the headline poster on that two bit site for selling picks.

He is mad that we found out, the point is that if you are selling picks, you post in here.

Examples would be buddywright and others who were members but were posting plays for pay or services away from here.

He can still post in this forum and we welcome him to do so.

Dont try to protect touts GAM, it isnt good for anyone on the site but the tout.

I'm definitely not trying to protect them Wall.

I just wasn't sure how clear the evidence was that Nos was a "tout" and exactly what the definition of a "tout" was since others in the past who were known to sell picks were allowed to post in the mains so long as they crossed no lines.

You do a great job Ed, I know it's a tough job. Nos just seemed like one of the good guys, but again, I know you have more info than me.

No problem..sometimes members only see a PIECE of the equation and dont see what we do behind the scenes.

NOS is a tout, that site has been spamming with his name as a headline tout STRONGLY for quite a while, you just dont see it because we nab them fast.

That WizofOdds is a very common name, I dont think there is a connection, but if you can track plays here and there that is fine.

No issues with asking but trust me we are on the money with these guys.

Hiner is another guy who tried to do both and wasnt allowed to.

There was plenty of evidence and the guy admitted to it, just check his threads in here..you will find it.

wallstreet - I assume when you say 'this guy' you're referring to someone from that other website because I've never posting anything even so close to that

as a tax analyst for a large firm, I just thought of a sure way to verify what your 'investigators' claim - if I'm an employee (or contractor receiving $600 or more via 1099-MISC) that person or company is required by law (IRS and it's not a law you want to break and get caught) to send me a W-2 or 1099-MISC that contains my social security number (which they also must have on file also via a Form I-9 - right to work paperwork)

the process is a simple one - ask this company/site what the last four digits of my SSN are (disclosing a fraction of the SSN is not illegal) and post it right here (or if that company is reading this go and ahead and post it yourself). I'll then fax my actual social security card (includes name which is easily confirmed) to some neutral covers poster and to covers office itself (they do have a fax machine hopefully)- then we'll see if it matches, if not I would wonder how exactly you think this company is supposedly making payments to me. Of course, no one will do this because that company does not have this necessary information to make these payments.

My guess is that you will now be 'too busy' to take 5 minutes to find out and provide the last four digits of my SSN from this party, and instead rely on someone at a website promoting their own self interest as your main reference point for 'inside information' Good luck

nos is a moneymaker for all of us, if he was truely selling picks why would he be giving them away on here?? i agree, as americans aren't we innocent until proven guilty? BOL this week nos

also NOS, have you decided on your big play this week? i'm really liking wisconsin and ohio state. also that under in the TCU game, both teams on a short week, TCU traveling on the short week. i'm also leaning towards arkansas, south carolina is up to 12 and i'd really like to gra it at +13. any insight?

Wow Nos, you seem really genuine and honest here. This situation is lame. Hopefully it bodes well for you that you are actually making the attempt to prove innocence.

Whatever happens, I really enjoyed reading your perspective on games even though you and I have wildly different bets most of the time. Nevertheless, always enjoyed reading your thoughts. You're a sharp dude, hopefully we'll get to see more of you in the future.

What you can do is tell that site to remove your name because as long as it is part of there site, you have to post here. If you are not getting anything like you say then why let them use your name?

All known touts have to post in here and cannot post in the main forums. That has always been the rule so no one is picking on you.

4) Any picks posted will be assumed to be meant for the various Picks forums, and will be relocated there if not deleted. Any obvious site promotions will be assumed to be meant for the Promotions area, and will be relocated there if not deleted. Any other off-topic threads will be relocated to the appropriate forum and/or deleted accordingly. In short, no picks in the general discussion room, no promos in the picks room, no service picks in any forum, etc. If you are promoting a service in any forum other than Website Promotions, you will be given a warning from a moderator before being banned if you continue to do so. The place for promoting yourself is your spaces page.


And as long as the tool keeps putting your name in his aliases threads saying you are there, you have to stay in here. I see all these guys whine about when someone is good they get banned ect. That is COMPLETE crap. If a member does well and announces that he will now charge for his picks, he gets moved to here and if he continues to post in the mains after being warned, he gets banned.

Covers is a free site and it was not created so tools can come here, build a following and go tout, So if you are not one, have him remove your info from his site is my advice.

Nos may be lying or might be telling 100% truth. I have no idea.

What I do know is this:

1. Nos has a following here and anybody can add that name to their website in an effort to get his followers from covers to pay money on their site. It's the same deal as when a dude started up a site and called himself Mr. Bator. You can't prevent people from doing that.

2. Nos continues to post his plays on covers, for free! If the guy was trying to make money, why would he post his plays on here for free? That doesn't add up. BUT, if that is the case, that's a really stupid thing to do.

I think his point is that anybody can start up their own site and call themselves Nostradamus. The name is not copyrighted. And if you ARE a tout and post your plays for free, that's just stupid and against tout site's rules. None of the covers touts are allowed to post all of their plays for free because that would not be in the best interest of the owner of this site nor the handicapper, which = losing money. (therfore get rid of the guys hitting at high percentages?)

Like I said, I don't know. I also don't tail any of these guys. However, I am finding all of this extremely fishy as it just happened out of nowhere, and during week 11 of the CFB season. I guarantee that if a person like Randizzle was hitting 50% of his plays and you guys were 100% sure that he was touting somewhere else, even on his own website, you wouldn't make even the slightest stink about it. He'd still be hanging in the CFB forum. Why? Because at 50% he obviously wouldn't have the following, so he wouldn't be taking away from the 'expert' touts on THIS site or the money that is being made, or shall I say, being lost. It's so ironic that his whole board (mods and posters alike) rip on touts so harshly when this site itself is a tout website! I'm curious as to how the covers touts get started out? They built up a following somewhere. If they don't want to lose business then they should start hitting at a higher percentage / more units than the 'amateurs'. As far as guys coming on here and hitting at high percentages: The smart thing to do is encourage them to go tout! Let them take off and charge money so that they won't take the money out of the pockets of the covers touts / owner. As long as they are sticking around here and posting their plays for free while hitting high percentages, nobody, or least a smart person, will pay to get tout plays. Encourage them to go! Or hire a dude like Dizzle, who has a huge following now, and rake in the cash for the site! Better business practices = more money.

 

Guilty Until proven Innocent.  Way to go Covers.  I got a good Idea, why don't you guys PROVE that it is him and not some other person who decided to use the name.  Shit that would take to much time, easier to just move and ban because the guy is guilty in your minds no matter what.  Think I will go to a website and use the username aaaa1 and claim to be a tout.  Then covers can move and ban you to huh?

This site  has become a joke and I for one am glad to be moving on.  I just wanted to make sure I posted my last 2 cents as to what a fucking joke it has become.
