Tough game for Howard last time out going 0/9 and losing 50-70 @ Washington. Of course we all expect a bounce back but who knows. ATL is hard to peg at this point in the season. Two early wins against Dallas and LA look more impressive now than they did at the start of the month as those teams put things together. The other two wins were again the Fever before the coach firing. Players like Howard can change the culture in a team and I think we are starting to see that with Atlanta but they can also create a lot of false confidence with success early in the season. I don't know how good Howard or Atlanta can be, but simply siding with them because the star had a bad game and the team barely put up half a century isn't for me. I think sometimes games like that can burst the bubble for a team. We'll see how the confidence is looking today. Early start favors the road team IMO. Expecting a tight rotation from Phoenix today. They are already 0-2 on this 4 game road trip and should fight for the possibility of .500. Mercury D numbers look bad but yours would too if you played LV 3 times in 7 games.

A couple days ago I had the under in the Liberty/Storm game and despite OT it cashed. What an awful scoring night for both teams. Tonight I will be going in a different direction. The Liberty actually played much better in that game than I expected and despite 21 turnovers and shooting just 34% from the field, they found themselves in extra time. They may not have come away with the victory because of some very sloppy play but they showed heart. Obviously the Liberty would love to win this next one and they should believe that they can given how close they got with even another poor game from Sabrina. The players on the court should be the same. I expect Seattle to once again be missing Bird, Talbot, and Ezi. Here's hoping NY can take advantage. The team has revenge on its mind while Seattle contemplates 3 upcoming games against the wings and two more against the Sun and Dream over the next two weeks. Han Xu has impressed early on and I would like to see even more minutes for her in this one. She was incredibly efficient in her 18 mins last game (12 and 8 in 18 minutes). This is good news as the 30 year old Dolson might need a bit of a breather after playing extended minutes. If the Liberty can just turn a few of those turnovers into made baskets, I think they might actually walk away from this one with a victory. The revenge goes a little deeper for NY with Howard and Stew. Howard was the only Liberty player to score more than 3 times from the field and she will need to be productive again if NY stands any chance. As I said before, it was an exceptionally poor shooting night for both teams. After battling it out for 45 minutes, I expect all players to feel a little more comfortable and find more holes in the defense. The mere fatigue from last game mounting should result in less effort on D and some easier baskets. My biggest worry with NY is their turnovers. They are the worst in the league for this category and Seattle is 1st in steals. If NY doesn't come hungry and focused, this game could get real ugly as I do expect Seattle to shoot better tonight. A big game for Ionescu would go a long way.

I don't really have all that much to say about the 7pm game. Both teams have had disappointing starts to the season and I think this -2 line is all about homecourt. 2 of the Sparks 3 wins have come on the road and they have already played 7 games away from home. I think they are comfortable here. The Lynx on the other hand are 1-2 at home this season with that lone victory a 6 point win against the league worst NY Liberty. The other two home games were a competitive loss against Chicago and a 12 point loss to Washington sans DD and Clark. There is still time for Minnesota to turn it around but there is zero indication that starts tonight. LA is coming off a disappointing loss to The Fever and has revenge on its mind after losing to the Lynx 12 days ago in LA by only 3 points. One thing Minnesota does have going for them is rest but I am still going to back what I feel is the hungrier team and the team playing better ball at this point in the season.
