Holy cow what the heck! 9 years in a Russian prison. I have to believe the USA will make a deal quietly and get her out. Talk about bad luck and wrong place at wrong time. I’m not a Griner fan and you shouldn’t have anything in your luggage abroad that is even remotely questionable when traveling but this seems a bit harsh.

I hope you oppose the harsh drug laws in America too. Griner would have received the same sentence if not more if the same crime was committed in the states.

interesting story...she didn't get busted with a little, she got busted with alot-in a country with zero tolerance...after having denounced her country to a certain degree.  And in the backdrop was lord emperor getting those ucla players and rocky out of their foreign predicaments fairly quickly.  most of us like sports to get us away from politics but this one is tyin it all together. 

Griner decides Russia is good destination  to play basketball to supplement a 300K salary she earns in the states.

Russia at war with another country and has some of the harshest drug laws in the world decides to pack her vapes with weed. 

Griner another professional athlete who turns her back on then National Anthem now needs White House support to get her out. 

9 years in some remote part of Siberia is a nightmare for a small amount of weed nobody deserves that. Sounds like a series of dumb decisions

Did anyone make this much of a fuss over the ex marine who has served Three of the nine years he was sentenced for public intoxication in a Russian prison? I think not no one has ever brought that up

Exactly! His name was Trevor Reed, he was a former marine served about three years of a sentence before being released in a prisoner exchange last March
