Dream got off to a good start and definitely caught the Sun off guard but it was short lived and they just couldn’t keep the pressure on. Something woke Alyssa Thomas up in that 2nd quarter and the rest of the team followed suit in the 2nd half. When I saw her rebound her own missed free throw and put it back in, I knew we were done. Atlanta was not matching that intensity. I know Howard is supposed to be a star in this league and is clearly talented but where is the killer instinct? Her team is now 2-5 after dropping 3 straight against some of the leagues best (Aces, Liberty, and Sun). Stars need to step up in these spots, especially when you lose players. Forget the point totals (which are underwhelming for sure). She’s shot 13/40 from the field across those 3 games. That is simply not good enough. Good luck to anyone taking them today. I need a break from this team until I see some more cohesion or they get a real PG back.
If I have a bet tonight, it will be on Seattle. I promise it’s not just because I hate Phoenix but also it is definitely a bit because of that. Phoenix has beaten Minnesota and now Indiana. Neither victory was particularly impressive. Can Phoenix win two in a row? Sure. Anything’s possible. Give me 7 points to play with and I’ll pay to find out.
Griner is a beast but I think Ezi is being overlooked, especially on the defensive end. Should be much more difficult for BG to crack 20 tonight and Jewell can more than match DT.

Didn’t have too much time to type things out today but some quick side notes on why Seattle for me tonight:
- Second game back for Jewell - Lone home game for Mercury. Three road games behind and two more ahead (Washington and then NYL)
- Seattle’s shooting numbers are poor but Phoenix has the worst defence in the league and turns the ball over more than anyone else so my hope is that sheer volume will balance things out tonight.
