They fired Fred which was the correct thing to do, though it should have been done two weeks ago.
The team is dysfunctional and I believe Cambage sitting is more about her not wanting to play than injury.
If I'm GM, I am trading either Skylar or Cambage next year, if they can even convince Cambage to play in the United States again. Others close to the situation can chime in, but it looks to me like Diggins-Smith can't play in a situation where she is not the star. She looks the part of a prima donna.
Cambage is probably the greatest physical talent that women's basketball has ever seen...she is the Wilt Chamberlain of women's ball. She is THE star, but the others have to be able to accept that. Having Plaisance back from injury and those two playing together they could have the best front court in the league.
Me? I am trading Diggins-Smith whose play after the end of the season has been a net negative. She's selfish, can't really pass for a point guard....I'd trade her straight up for Vanderloot, even if that would look like a talent steal for the Sky.
I also slow the game down and play more half court games where Cambage can be more of a force defensively and offensively. I'd have Shaquaile O'Neil mentor her. She has to get it in her head that being star will mean you will get physcially pounded and not to take it personally.
This is the year that they should have made a breakthrough, so make a change, they're a very young team still, so they have time to work things out in the coming couple of seasons.

all very interesting stuff Indigo.. Dallas seems to have most of the pieces to make something decent but keep tripping over themselves, the first domino with the coach going is the right direction! makes the last week of regular season could be very interesting..

There must be something dysfunctional about a team on a 9-game losing streak, but since I don't know one WNBA player or coach from another, I'll just crunch some numbers.
I think efficiency is more important that simple points. For example, suppose team A yields a relatively high number of points, but if they run an extremely rapid offense, their opponents will always get a lot of FGA's. Team A's defense might actually be above average.
I look at points/FGA, which I think paints a better picture. I computed the OFF EFF and DEF EFF for three teams, listing OE, DE and NET EFF in that order.
SEA 1.27 1.15 0.12
ATL 1.16 1.14 0.02
DAL 1.26 1.22 0.04
It is DAL's defense that is sorely lacking. I would certainly favor SEA over ATL in a potential playoff matchup, but based on ATL's recent improvement, I would probably try to compute both teams' EFF figures for the last 10 or 15 games (too few could be skewed by schedule strength).

Sorry mate but totally disagree I can think of 20 better PF or C's better than Plaisance, she can't be on the same sentence with the words best frontcourt of the league

I am playing Plaisance ahead of Glory Johnson, she will get every tough rebound for me and hit a high percentage of threes, she'll average 16 points/game for me and I'll get the Wings to 20 wins, rather than the 15 that they get every year.
I turn the team into what it should be, which is a power team, I get rid of the run and gun and I get a point guard that can pass the ball and like it.
