WNBA ASG total opened 248.5 closed 195.5 last year and still went under. New rule changes to this years’ game but I don’t think that justifies a 70+ point difference

Per the WNBA website:

4-Point Shot

• Four circles – two at each end of the court – will be placed above the current three-point line (22 feet, 1.75 inches from the center of the rim) at a distance of 28-feet from the rim.
• Each circle shall be designated as the 4-point shot area.
• Any shot made by a player who has contact within the 4-point upon attempting the shot will be credited as four points.

20-Second Shot Clock

• The shot clock will be shortened from 24 to 20 seconds. The shot clock will still reset to 14 seconds after an offensive rebound.

Automatic Points for Free-Throw Attempts: “No Free-Throws”

• In circumstances that would require a player to shoot free throw(s), the player will automatically be credited with the maximum available point(s) given the situation. In such cases, the box score will reflect the appropriate number of free-throws as attempted and as made.
• The only time in which players will physically attempt a free throw will be during the last two minutes of the fourth quarter and during the entirety of any overtime period(s).

I am on under as well. I think I got 267.5. Was looking at the last few box scores, they barely attempt double digit free throws combined, so that adds maybe 2 points to the total. The 4 point shot at 28 feet, they're not hitting that. And the shot clock doesn't really factor in because the games are fast-paced anyway and the shot clock rarely is a factor.  So , the new rules maybe add 5-7 points.  And, an all-star game has never hit the 260's.

Can't look at last year's game at all. It was an Olympic tune-up game. That original number last year was a big mistake. A few years ago we saw 255 points in the ASG. Can we see 14 more?

 That’s a good point, however that 255 mark they hit in 2019 was the highest scoring ASG in WNBA history and only one other game cracked 250. So for this game to go over, they would have to score significantly higher than any ASG in the 17 game history. Maybe the new rules help push it over but I’m willing to pay to see it happen

Now a 10-point move on the total as it's down to 258. The four-pointer could also be a negative as they will hoist up shots and probably make only a few.
