Well its my favorite time of year. Lets get this thing started this season.  

Plenty of trades and player/coach movements in the off-season with also a lot of ladies missing the first few weeks due to international commitments and other things. The biggest news was the news out of Phoenix with Taurasi sitting out the entire season and Griner missing the first 7 matches due to domestic violence against Glory Johnson so the Shock will miss her for 7 games as well. I highly advise you guys check out the net for player injuries before putting money on teams because there are plenty of them. I also hear that Allie Quigley is missing in action next week because of international duties. Quigley will play the first 2 games before going to play for Hungary. 

Looking forward to Curry running his contest again and Wagers is the defending champ. Can he hit 75% again?  The pressure is on Wagers.

Good morning,
right words, a lot of confusion this beginning of the season....is better be carefull almost for 7/10 days..

For today i like chi but the line now is everywhere at -7,5 so i wait a minute...

The season just gets crazier. Glory Johnson will miss the entire season to being pregnant. Her and Griner are expecting a baby.

First play of the season

Tulsa Shock @ Minnesota Lynx: Shock +12

Taking this line because of a few factors...

Janel McCarville will not play for the Lynx this season. Thats a big loss. The Shock have covered themselves well with Glory Johnson not playing this season with some nice additions such as Pierson and Christmas. Also expect Riquna Williams to have a good season and she looked good in pre-season as well. Sims/Diggins to be even better this season than last season. They also have a good young rookie who is 6'5 (Zahui) so expect her presence to be felt in the paint. She may get a little touch up though from the experienced bigs for the Lynx. The Lynx are going to be short in this game with Asjha Jones and Anna Cruz out due to an illness. I think the Shock can keep this withing single digits. 

Shock are always under-valued by the books opening part of the season and I said I would take them almost every game whilst the books take a while to adjust their lines. Just might not take them whilst in B2B situations.

How many new players do the shock have on their roster this year besides the rook?

Think I might tail here n there at first untill I get a good feel for the girls.

* OT was the only thing that could cause that total to go over last night...I made one of the biggest bets I ever have on the 1st half under thank god instead of game under. Nice hit on -5.5 aussie*

Isnt the Sky-7.5 and the Dream-5.5 good plays as well, Aussie? Personally, I like those better. Maybe even SA+6.5 vs the Mercs, or maybe the over in that game.

Aussie buddy! We are back! Can't wait for the season. I will be at the Garden tonight. Will give you my very subjective assessment of what I see Would anyone want first half assessment.? Wagers? Hate that my girl Anna is gone. A vet fine player.

Sorry it went when I didn't want it to. Anna a very fine guard. I love her and she is a great addition to a team that doesn't need it. I lean Atlanta and Chicago and actually will make those two official plays. Not MAX mind you. So

Will lay low a bit for MAX plays

Ps yes glory Becky and myself are the very proud expectant parents. We hope an Amazon like her mothers. With just as much meanness. But we are going to keep large objects out of our war torn home till the child is 3.

Is Fowles out for Chicago? Also lost Epiphany Prince? Fowles obviously bigger concern, but Prince was also a nice scorer. Sorry, just going off injury report on donbest

Fowles is out indefinitely for Chicago, last I heard she demanded a trade request out of CHI and won't play for them until that's fulfulled.

Epiphany Prince is also no longer with Chicago, she was part of the blockbuster deal that sent her to NY in exchange for Cappie Pondexter.

Like Aussie mentioned, a LOT of change, more than most off-seasons and coupled with a few players on intl duty, these rosters are VERY different from the end of last year.

Quick blurbs for the early games...

Mystics at Sun 
A lot of buzz surrounding the Mystics this year due to their young talent having a year under their belt.  Led by Ivory Latta, they boast young guns Bria Hartley Stefanie Dolson Tayler Hill and Emma Messemen. 
Remember: Thibault was one of the most successful regular season coaches during his time in Connecticut before being let go and now he has a roster that he's comfortable with in WAS

The Sun also showed some promise late last year, but now Chiney Ogbumike (sp?) is out indefinitely, Katie Douglas has retired, who's going to score here?  Their two most promising players behind Chiney are probably Alex Bentley and Alyssa Thomas.  Kelsey Bone is a big body, but misses a ton of easy shots and lets her emotion take her out of some games...not a lot to like here until Chiney comes back.
Further, I'm not sold on Anne Donovan as a coach either, think she's overmatched by a lot of her colleagues.

Lot of roster overhaul.  Agree with blocksnbooze, feel like Conn Sun are an autofade against playoff teams until Chiney comes back.  Feel the same way about fading the Mercury until Griner comes back...

Remember the Mercury pre-Griner when Taurasi was injured for the year?  They were AWFUL.  It's how they ended up with Griner lol.  And where did Penny Taylor go?  Who's running point for them?

You can see the line dropping like a rock... +5 Silver Stars now.

Does anybody have any insight into how the loss of Fowles has affected Chicago's play? (I watch WNBA regular season, but didn't catch this preseason).  EDD is amazing, but Chicago -7.5 seems steep to me against a team like Indiana who has some size and experience down low and who is going to want to grind it out?

Obviously a new season, but initial leans...

Mystics -6.5 vs toothless Sun without Chiney.  ML is a safe bet I think.
New York +6.5 vs. Dream, going off Aussie's thoughts that Liberty are better this year and Dream's road woes.
Lynx vs Shock.  Over the course of watching many many games between the two, seems like Tulsa always plays one half close and gets blown out the other due to lack of discipline.  May change this year with more experience, but until that time, I always play Tulsa by halves, doubling up at halftime if the 1st half loses, which has been very profitable.
Stars +5 vs. Mercury.  On autofade of Mercury until Griner comes back, she and Taurasi ARE that team.  The last time Bonner, Dupree and company had to go it alone they ended up with the #1 pick in the WNBA draft.

Thoughts welcome! Happy that WNBA is back, let's make some money!

Indiana +7.5 vs Chicago Sky.  Have to see how Sky play without Fowles and Prince.  Cappie is a great addition, nullifies Prince loss and then some, but Fowles was a big steadying presence in the post, think 7.5 is too much.

Great stuff seeing everyone back in here for the WNBA. Always a sport that doesn't get enough attention...

Play safe, only the start of the season and because of big roster changes, we have no idea how these teams are going to perform..
