Opening up the thread nice and early to get insight and plays
WNBA: 72-61-1
Well the time has come for the teams to really play their best basketball. Unlike the NBA, the girls only get 3 games in the play-offs to try and get into the next round. Some great match-ups and some big spreads have been given to us in these games so far.
My initial leans (not plays)
Mystics +5 & the over. (I really like them and their coach and think they can keep this game close with the Fever). IMO, Fever do not play well under pressure. They are the fav's for this game and they may not keep their stuff together throughout the game. Both teams can go through spells of the game missing shots etc but I think Mystics have the edge on shooting. I think both teams can crack the 70 mark as well for the over.
Dream -2.5 & Under (line is so sus though, makes me nervous taking them especially after last years surprise loss to the Mystics in the 1st game in ATL. This should be around -5) As for the total, seems very high for a play-off game but I guess when you have the Dream averaging around 83 at home, the books make it high.
Mercury -10.5 Under- what can I say about this team.. Too many positive things to list. Sparks are going to find it tough keeping it close. Tolliver is really their only sharp-shooter and even at times she is bad. GL Sparks this series. Mercury beat them last season and that was before BG was in beast mode. I think Mercury locked down on defense and keep the Sparks to a very low score..
Lynx -10.5 & over (in play-offs, you either play on the Lynx or don't play on the game at all IMO). For all those weren't here last season, the Lynx go into beast mode during the post-season and can be very dangerous especially against a Stars team they have dominated for so long (can't look into their last match-up, Lynx motivation = zero) The Stars really don't know how to play defense and the Lynx have put 85+ on the Stars in Minny in the last 5 games there. I think we see another big score from Minny. So if Minny hit 85, can the Stars hit 72 to get the over? I think they can.
BOL everyone. Plenty of time to look through the games before making a decision..

Sup Aussie. The more I think about this, the less I am liking Atlanta, especially in GM1. Dumerc will probably start, Angel has not been hitting her shots and she is most likely playing injured, Desouza is MIA, Shoni is inexperienced. Atlanta is 2-6 in August with both wins coming in completely meaningless games late in the season.
Hmm. On the other hand, I am pretty sure Atlanta will try to run, especially when EDD will be on the floor to try and get her off the floor asap. I might consider over 1H in that one, or maybe a live bet. I hope there will be live betting in that game. Then again with this being playoffs and all EDD might stay on the court for longer periods of time. VDS is back and that might help quite a bit. She might not score and all, but at least she is more experienced than Faulkner who is prone to rookie mistakes. And VDS is usually a liability on D, but she can guard Dumerc with her eyes closed (a scarecrow can guard Dumerc).
Also, I am not so keen on 'sota to cover 10 points. That is one big spread and SAS has a decent bench (Gia!) for a potential garbage time cover. But I think it might stay close throughout. Minnesota has not been in synch the last couple of months. They actually looked better on offense when Dantas was starting (well Augustus was not injured back then). In short, I am having my doubts. I might still play Indy 1h and/or over 1H or TT over. No idea about the 2nd game. Maybe over or over 1H. I might also consider Minny 1Q/1H, but not sure; but then again SAS does lack playoff experience, apart obviously from Hammon, so Minny might be able to stun the Stars early on.

By the way, the other side has a couple of hilarious tennis "face off" tennis threads. If you like tennis and/or betting on tennis, you might find those valuable. In particular, in one of the threads, this wannabe capper "ddouchex" challenged another capper and is now so far behind that it is not even funny. I am making some coin tailing the other dude (but that all can change at any time, of course). But those threads are just plain hilarious even if you do not like tennis.

Say boys, feels good to recharge the batteries and get pumped for the playoffs (haha wnba but what you gunna do) and I think the ladies will have enjoyed the recoup time and will be ready to roll too
over 71 1H Wash/Indy17 bags over 14117 bags I absolutely love this matchup bt/w 2 of my favorite coaches. I remember their epic series when Thibault was coach of Conn and were withing a few second of taking out Indy in what ended up being Indy's Champion winning playoff run. Indy had just won 2-1 against Atl in the Conf semis and faced Conn in the 2012 Eastern Conf Finals and quickly went down 0-1 in a loss @ Conn so came back in a must win at home in the 3 game series. Thru a myriad of close plays Indy missed a layup with 2 seconds left and somehow Zealous ended up with the ball and hit a game winning 14 footer for the win and as they say the rest is history as Indy went on to finish off Conn and then Minn in the Finals. One thing I took from that series is that each coach knows the importance of each and every win and are not afraid to have their girls push early to establish lead and rhythm, much like the NBA philosophy. And also these teams can suffer a putrid 30pt qtr and still go over. Their last matchup where Wash went to Indy and won 74-61 is absolutely no indication of what might happen in this game, you can throw that game out the window. Admittedly Indy came off a long tough west coast rd trip and played a very physical game against Minn and then came out and practiced too hard the next day and were spent and had no legs when Wash came to town, watch Coach Dunn interview from that game and she'll tell you. Now they are rested and have come out guns ablazing in every game since then except NY where they rested starters. Bottom line for me is that this total is way too low to start a playoff series taking into account the coaching match ups, the energy that both will come out with, the proclivity of Indy to start fast, the fact that defense usually shows up later in a series and once again the low total. I believe there is a 65-60 game in this series I just don't think it's the 1st one. The one goucher could be one team comes out and shoots like total crap and we get a 38-30 1H, and that could happen and I'll lose. But I'd hate to be on the sidelines with no money on it when they get 79 1H and 146 and the game goes over. GL fellas

Mystics +5 & the over. (I really like them and their coach and think they can keep this game close with the Fever). IMO, Fever do not play well under pressure. Ok, I am going to go with my initial lean and what I posted previously on Joe's thread. I totally agree with Wagers and what he has said. As stated before, this total is very low for an opening game in a play-off. Yes, last season the Mystics won 71-56 vs the Dream in ATL and obviously that only hit 127 points but that was against the Dream. Fever are different. They share the scoring around the team unlike Dream who rely heavily on Angel most games. The Mystics can also hit some points if their 3's are going down. I expect there to be plenty of FT's as well in this contest as the Fever do like to be physical. Given that both teams have had a few days off to prepare, we may see a little rust and I wouldn't be surprised to see the 1H go under but I truly think with both teams in this game that they can both his low 70's. Something like 76-72 IMO. I do like Mystics ATS as well but I think there is better value in the over because Fever are just waiting for a big win at home to please their fans as they were very poor this season at home.
Mystics @ Fever: Over 141. (6 bags).
Also feel very confident seeing that Wagers is on this play as well.
IMO, we gotta be very smart in the play-offs, not trying to play every game because some games are so tough to cap in Play-offs. Like the Stars @ Lynx game. Lynx are beasts post-season but as Ax pointed out, they haven't been playing too well lately. Stars can nail 3's with McBride and Jia Perkins off the bench as well and -10 is a big line to cover in the 1st game so I will be adding more money to my plays but less plays as I personally think this is the smarter way to cap the post-season.

Man, for some strange reason, i think the stars are going to give the lynx problems. Scratch regular season, its all anout match-ups and i think they match up well and shoot the 3 ball better than any other team in the league.

Hi Guys; I have followed the thread through this season and I just wanted to compliment all of you on what a great thread it is. This was my first season betting the WNBA and Aussie, Ax, SW, etc. (all of you guys) have helped me tremendously. Thanks so much.
Good luck to us all tonight.

I already have over 141 locked in with my book, but now I see it at 139.5 on my book. Do I bet the over again!?!? or do I just stay with one bet on this over and do not get greedy?
Like most I do see this a low scoring game, but 139 seems VERY low. I like this game to be low 70s for both teams with FTs at the end or even an OT. Mystics win 73-71

Hi guys best of luck to all of us during the playoff run, I just saw my man Wagers post, and now the total lines are 69.5 and 139.5, even though it decreased, this didn't let me down to put 20 bags each to them, hope it goes well, I worry if there is an injury or sth?

thinking the same thing dan, specially over 69.5 1H but it is early in the playoffs and don't want to go too big too early

Sup dudes. Freaking 5d started to extra juice their FIBA U16 lines, they must be getting as.s-raped there and I am glad I am contributing to some of that. Seriously, I am seeing 20 pts favs losing by 10pts almost every day.
As for the WNBA, I am going to roll with the overs and favs 1q/1h today. The difference in experience between the dogs and favs today is pretty big. The 1H total @Indy is down to 69 pts. This is just crazy. Gotta say that the public and "covers experts" are all over under in the 1st game (and over in the 2nd game). Something to think about.

Yeah, I do not think covers will appreciate links to their competitors. Gotta say that the NBA/WNBA forum is by far the best on covers; but the tennis forum over here is virtually extinct.

Well we are 1 hour away from tip-off. Hope everyone is recharged and ready for these play-offs. Do the Stars have someone out? Late last night (Oz time) the line hit -11 and also the total has dropped by 3 points. Me thinks someone is out that we don't know about.
Anyways, thanks all for the kinds words and lets try and finish the season strong. BOL

Ax, is there a reason you don't post your FIBA? You sound like you're up HUGE, I remember in an earlier post, you went like 7-1.

I am not talking about the day I go 2-6, LOL. I am not going big there anyway, FIBA junior plays is not something I am taking too seriously. The games are virtually impossible to watch (not that I would necessarily want to), but some lines are indeed soft there. Anyway, that season is almost of over, apart from the WCs and those should be better covered, I hope.
