Billy Horschel holds the solo lead at -4 after a third-round 69. However, the latest British Open odds have Xander Schauffele as the favorite to close out the tournament at +330.

The Old Course at Royal Troon continues to show its teeth as the field is facing an incredibly difficult test in Scotland. Now, we turn our attention to Sunday’s final round.

Below, I break down the action and bring you my favorite British Open picks.

Best 2024 Open Championship Round 4 picks

Adrian Meronk over Tom Hoge (+105)

Adrian Meronk and Tom Hoge are both T40 at +5 through the first three rounds. However, at
plus-money, I’m optimistic on Meronk closing out stronger than Hoge.

This week, Meronk outranks Hoge in strokes gained around the green, strokes gained off the
tee, total strokes gained, greens in regulation percentage, driving distance and driving accuracy. While he’s basically beating Hoge in every key metric, it’s the accuracy that I trust the most.

Royal Troon is immensely benefiting those who can avoid danger, especially on the back nine. An inaccurate tee shot can cost you multiple strokes, which is why I trust Meronk’s floor more than Hoge’s.

Pick: Adrian Meronk over Tom Hoge (+105 at DraftKings)

Austin Eckroat over Brian Harman (+145)

Austin Eckroat and Brian Harman are two golfers also at T40 following Saturday. Similar to the previous play, I just like Eckroat’s game this week more than Harman’s.

Harman has been relying heavily on the putter, which is almost always the case. However, this course rewards shot-making far more than putting, which should benefit Eckroat in this head-to-head matchup.

Eckroat continues his good form, considering that he has gained strokes on the approach in five consecutive tournaments, while also remaining more accurate off the tee in four of those five events.

He also proved that he can perform on a major championship Sunday, given that he finished T18 at this year’s PGA Championship and T10 at last year’s U.S. Open, and his game is only continuing to improve.

Pick: Austin Eckroat over Brian Harman (+145 at DraftKings)

Patrick Cantlay Top 20 (+115)

Patrick Cantlay currently sits at T25, but there’s more than enough time for him to sneak into the Top-20 range. While I get the knock on Cantlay is his typically poor performance in major championships, there’s still no denying that he‘s one of the best golfers in the world.

Continuing the importance of accuracy off the tee, and that‘s something Cantlay has done well this week, as he ranks 24th in that category. Furthermore, he just seems like a relatively safe bet at plus-money to at least flirt with a Top-20 finish.

Cantlay has finished inside the Top 20 in each of his past two tournaments, and six of his past nine major championships.

Pick: Patrick Cantlay Top 20 (+115 at DraftKings)
