LIV Golf Houston Picks and Odds: Rahm Favored in Texas

Jon Rahm has yet to win a LIV Golf tournament in seven tries. Rahm has finished T10 or better each time, so it's not like he hasn't been competitive. He's drawing the shortest odds, just ahead of Joaquin Niemann and Bryson DeChambeau.

After more than a month off, LIV Golf Houston kicks off at the Golf Club of Houston on Friday, June 7, and goes through Sunday, June 9.

Jon Rahm is once again the betting favorite in the golf odds despite still having yet to win on LIV.

Here is our odds, analysis, and free golf picks for this week's LIV Golf tournament from deep in the heart of Texas.

LIV Golf Houston picks and predictions

Bryson DeChambeau to win outright (+800)

Whenever you get a course that rewards long hitters, you immediately seek out Bryson DeChambeau’s odds. He's the longest hitter off the tee on LIV, ranking first in average driving distance. That'll set him up for success at the Golf Club of Houston.

DeChambeau is also one of those guys who played this course back when he was still a member on Tour. He did finish T44 in that lone appearance, but that still gives him a leg-up on the rest of the competition that hasn’t played at this venue competitively prior to this weekend.

DeChambeau also enters this week in great form following his runner-up performance at the PGA Championship against a much more difficult field than what he will be competing against this week.

Since he finished runner-up to Xander Schauffele, DeChambeau finished as the top LIV player, and I think he'll carry that momentum in Houston.

Pick: Bryson DeChambeau to win outright (+800 at DraftKings)

Dustin Johnson to win outright (+2,200)

This number is 22/1... make it make sense. Yes, Dustin Johnson is not on the level of DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, or Jon Rahm at this stage of his career, but he's still the king of LIV Golf.

DJ is a three-time winner on this rival circuit and ranked first in the individual standings in 2022, fifth in 2023, and currently ranks ninth in 2024. He still has his A-game, winning in Las Vegas earlier this season and boasting two other Top 7 finishes.

He can still drive the hell out of the ball, ranking ninth this season in average driving distance. Therefore, it shouldn’t be shocking DJ has thrived at this venue, finishing inside the Top 4 twice while it hosted the Houston Open on Tour.

Pick: Dustin Johnson to win outright (+2,200 at DraftKings)

Matthew Wolff to win outright (+6.500)

Matthew Wolff is my favorite longshot on the board this week at 65/1. He's flirted with winning multiple times this season, finishing third in Miami and fourth in Sin City.

The best part of Wolff’s game is the distance he gains over the competition off the tee, meaning the Golf Club of Houston could be the perfect venue for him to secure his first LIV Golf victory. He’s been so close over the past three years, posting nine Top 10 finishes across 26 events.

Now could finally be the time as he's bombing off the tee this season, gaining an average of 32+ yards over the field average in driving distance in each of the past three LIV events. Wolff ranks third in average driving distance this season, which should set him up well for Houston.

Pick: Matthew Wolff to win outright (+6,500 at DraftKings)

Golf Club of Houston notes

The Golf Club of Houston is a par-72, 7,422-yard track designed by Rees Jones that features hybrid greens and Perennial Ryegrass fairways. This weekend marks the first time that the Golf Club of Houston will host a LIV event, but these golfers are no strangers to this course.

The Golf Club of Houston hosted the Houston Open on Tour from 2003 to 2019, so the majority of this field has previously played at this venue competitively. This course demands the ability to gain distance over the field as heavy hitters have the best chance of succeeding due to the 7400+ yard length and multiple par-5s that hover around the 600-yard mark.

LIV Golf Houston field and favorites

Jon Rahm joined LIV Golf to great fanfare and controversy (depending on who you ask). And while he's been arguably the biggest fish in LIV's pond, he hasn't yet translated that into a tournament win. He's also coming off a disappointing missed cut at the PGA Championship. Still, he's finished T10 or better in all seven LIV tournaments this season, including a pair of T3s at Mayakoba and Adelaide. It seems like it's only a matter of time before he comes away with a win.

Still, standing in his way could be Joaquin Niemann, who has two tournament wins under his belt this year (his first for LIV) and is subsequently drawing the second-shortest odds at DraftKings alongside Bryson DeChambeau.

DeChambeau has finished outside the Top 25 in each of his last two LIV events but performed very well at two major PGA tournaments, finishing second most recently at the PGA Championship. DeChambeau had two wins at LIV events in 2023 (Greenbrier and Chicago).
