El Cardonal at Diamante in Mexico will play host to the World Wide Technology Championship this week as the PGA Tour’s fall swing continues to churn along.

The betting favorites in the World Wide Technology Championship odds are Max Greyserman, Cameron Young, Beau Hossler, Matti Schmid, and Doug Ghim, and our top golf picks have you covered for the event.

Best World Wide Technology Championship picks

World Wide Technology Championship outright picks

Pick to win: Harry Hall
+2,500 at FanDuel

The Englishman has one of the best short games on the PGA Tour, and he also ranks third in birdie average and fourth in birdie-or-better percentage for the season.

Additionally, one of his biggest weaknesses is his driving accuracy, but El Cardonal is friendly off the tee. The track is characterized by wide and forgiving fairways, in addition to manageable rough. It’s a big-time plus.

He's also rattled off T9 and T13 finishes in his past two events while gaining true strokes across the board, so I’m anticipating him creating plenty of scoring opportunities to cash in on the greens. He ranks 15th from tee to green, 17th on approach, and fifth in putting in this field across his past 10 events, after all.

Sleeper pick to win: Matti Schmid
+2,700 at bet365

Matti Schmid has put it all together this fall with his T16 in the Sanderson Farms, followed up with consecutive Top 5s in the Black Desert and Shriners. He’s eighth in true strokes gained tee-to-green and third in true strokes gained putting in this field during the three-tournament stretch, and he also finished a respectable T38 at El Cardonal last year.

Add ranking 19th in birdie-or-better percentage to playing 14 consecutive rounds under par dating back to the third round of the BMW PGA Championship in September, and I’m expecting Schmid to be able to keep putting circles on the card.

There’s also a notable edge in the available odds, with both DraftKings and FanDuel hanging a +2,200 price for Schmid to win outright. The difference in the numbers attaches a positive expected value of 20% to the +2,700 bet365 odds.

World Wide Technology Championship prop picks

Finishing position pick: Doug Ghim Top 30
-138 at bet365

Doug Ghim finished T15 in the event’s debut at El Cardonal last year, and he’s played the weekend in each of his past seven tournaments while pacing this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and ranking third in true strokes gained approach.

The 28-year-old American turned in a solo second in the Shriners during the stretch, too, and he has three consecutive Top 30 finishes.

I’m also encouraged with Ghim ranking fourth in bogey avoidance, fourth in Par-4 scoring, sixth in proximity, and 20th in adjusted scoring average for the season.

Finishing position pick: Rico Hoey Top 30
-105 at DraftKings

The recent and long-term form from Rico Hoey jumps off the page. He’s fifth in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and 20th in true strokes gained putting across his past three events, which includes a T3 finish at the Shriners.

The excellent ball-striking, in particular, also has long legs. Hoey has played the weekend in 11 consecutive tournaments and ranks 11th from tee to green during the run.

Additionally, in this watered-down field, Hoey ranking 21st in birdie-or-better percentage and 46th in bogey avoidance are impressive marks.

World Wide Technology Championship first-round pick

Round 1 pick: Max Greyserman Over 67.5
+115 at Caesars

Make no mistake: there are birdie opportunities all over this track, and Max Greyserman is the consensus betting favorite to win this week. Still, he’s never teed it competitively at El Cardonal, and his red-hot putter has been leading the way since mid-June.

After all, he’s first in this field in true strokes gained putting across his past 10 events and played the weekend in each with a trio of runner-up results. He also ranks 42nd in this field in true strokes gained on approach and 52nd in true strokes gained around the green, so again, his work on the greens has been masking some shortcomings.

Going 5-under at any course is difficult, so I’m happy to take the plus-money odds and bank on Greyserman to stop putting the lights out in his first trip around El Cardonal.
