Bet365’s £250,000 jackpot prize was won for the first time this weekend, with three players splitting the winnings in the sportsbook's free-to-play 6 Scores challenge.
Bet365 first launched its free-to-play jackpot game to mark the beginning of the 2022-23 football season. Every week, players can win cash prizes if they’re able to correctly predict the scores of six pre-selected games.
The winning players got off to a perfect start after Aston Villa's 2-1 victory at Leicester City and the 1-1 draw between Nottingham Forest and Wolves, but nothing was guaranteed until Sunday evening.
At St James’ Park, Newcastle United beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1, while another Sunday lunchtime fixture saw Eberechi Eze earn Crystal Palace a 1-1 draw at Chelsea. Later that day, another Erling Haaland hat-trick saw Manchester City take a 3-1 victory over West Ham United.
The sportsbook revealed that before the Manchester United vs Liverpool game, many outcomes were set to result in the jackpot being won. But after a first-half brace from Luis Diaz and a second-half strike from Mohamed Salah, just three players were eligible.
“There have been a number of crossbars hit since we started the 6 Scores Challenge but we are delighted to be paying the Jackpot after Liverpool’s 3-0 win at Manchester United," commented Bet365's Steve Freeth. “It looked like it was going to be a cricket score when Mo Salah scored just before the hour, but much to the relief of our Jackpot winners, it stayed at 3-0.”
The winning scores
The winning players correctly predicted all six scores in the following games:
- Leicester City 1-2 Aston Villa
- Nottingham Forest 1-1 Wolves
- West Ham United 1-3 Manchester City
- Newcastle United 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur
- Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace
- Manchester United 0-3 Liverpool
This is the first time anyone has won Bet365’s 6 Scores Challenge jackpot. Each of the three winning players will take home £83,333 - having not spent a penny on their bets.
Players win prizes for correctly guessing one or more scores in the challenge. For one or two correct scores, players are awarded five or 10 free spins, respectively. Three correct scores unlock 25 free spins. For four or five correct scores, players win cash prizes of £10,000 and £20,000, with the top prize for guessing all six scores correctly being the £250,000 jackpot.
The closest anyone had come to winning before this weekend was in May when two players correctly guessed the scores of five games. The winners shared a £20,000 reward, each taking £10,000 in prize money.
